Man, glad your OK dreem1er. This reminds me that I need to get off the stock tires asap. I was sliding around quite a bit on the turnpike just last week in the rain and I was only going about 60.

Talking about driving in the rain ... ppl here in Nor Cal drive like 80 YR-old-grandma at 50 MPH everytime there is a little sprinkle out there ... LOL ...
For us east coast transplant, rain here is nothing and those drivers driving me nuts ...

Definitely get rid of the stock Michelins, they're garbage. I recommend Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S and Goodyear F1 GS-D3s. Both great all weather tires, and definitely avoid driving when your tires are bald, sheesh... glad you're safe though. It happens. While I was on a mountain pass in my old Integra, my tires were still new but the outside rear caught on some gravel and caused the car to slide into the side of the mountain. Sounds pretty similar damage wise to what happened to your car. Good luck, I know it sucks especially when it happens to your TL but hopefully you'll be able to laugh it off months later as a lesson learned. I only had liability so I decided to sell my car after that.... 
Heh.... I'm one of those people who drive 60 or less when it rains, I'm more worried about other people and poor visibility though.

Same thing happened to me but with new tires i started to hydroplane right when i caught traction spun me around my luck i regained my control and went on my mary little way.
Good thing your ok cars can be fixed.

ok so only been like a year but i'm getting the car fixed, because a kid in a accord rearended me. A group of kids stole one of subway's $5 foot long 15' banners and ran across the street in front of my car. I stopped, and the kid behind me didn't, he hit me doing like 20-30, all 4 airbags went off in his car. And it cuased enough damage to my car to repair the whole rear

Now onto grown up talk. Your reckless driving could have not only killed you but someone else.
We had our first major rain here in 6 months and you guested it bunch of morons driving like you put a lot of people into the ditch and off to the hospital. It's rain, I cannot imagine how you'd drive in snow.
People need to slow down in the rain it's really that simple. Same thing with any type of bad weather. Best to arrive a few minutes later than crash your car. Hopefully you learned your lesson.

Speeding in the rain is a pretty bad idea. Glad to hear you came out alright. This situation reminds me of when my parents totalled their 99 Camry... Going W on the 60 freeway just before the 71 junction, there was an existing accident and then my parents were picking up speed in the carpool lane and at 60mph the car hydroplanes and spins out across all the lanes going head first into a semi, then turning to the drivers side crushin the pillar in then to the passenger side bending the door frame. Parents came out of it without any injuries, except for the small laseration on my dad's cheek. Shit was crazy damage.
And Rob, I agree with you, but don't be so harsh. Mistakes happen. And since I'm assuming by what you have said being it rained after a long time, its the worse time to be going fast since all the oil from the asphalt is going to be on the road making it slippery. No matter how well you know your car or how well it handles or even how great of a driver you are, don't speed in the rain, especially after a dry spell.

and cali ppl are terrified of driving when its raining, my cuzin was freaking it out when i was going the speed limit during a shower.. it rains ALL THE TIME here in miami, ppl are used to it and sometimes get too comfortable

you live here so you know what the rain is like when it gets bad...i didn't even needed my whipers more for the car that was in front of me, because there was barelyany rain, i just hit a pocket of water on the road, and the car didn't pull to any side or anything all four tires just came loose

damn that sucks, and i got lucky that i was able to turn the car from the divide of the off ramps, because i might not be here right now if i hadn't. and my damage wasn't that much because the car only hit doing like 20 and hit the rear bumper first
