i need some help!!

hello everyone, recently my sister went to an acura dealer to buy a car and she was sexual harrassed by the salesman. she told the manager and he said that we dont ever have to come back and we could do the paperwork from home. i dont feel this is enough to compensate for the harrassment. what should we do?
does anyone know a number or place we could contact to report this??

thanks for your help

I'm not really sure, but try (800) 382-2238 6AM to 5PM PST.
It's the "Acura Client Services" number.
Best of luck.

KH

ps. That's very unfortunate about what happened to your sister, whatever it was.

Here's one I got from a salesman when I was shopping around..

"You're English is pretty good.."

I just walked out of that dealership..

It's never a good thing to be ignorant.. but for the sake of this forum, please please don't start with the racial posts.. It's only going to get this topic closed..

The salesman may have just been trying to use humor and trying to get some kind of commanality.. but his comments were out of line.. not just by a sexual harrasment standpoint, but he was also being racist, and also it seems of people who are not skinny..

I'm curious. Which dealership was it? the one on steven's creek? they gave me really bad service when i was shopping for my TL last year. Salesman there was very condescending. I'm just curious if it's the same dumb ass salesman.

Call Acura and report the incident. Call the Sales Manager at that dealership to complain. Do not buy a car from that dealership. Tell us all the name of the dealership and salesman so we can all avoid that place like the plague until the salesman is out of there.

It's one thing to be ignorant, but it's quite another to be condescending or to resort to slurs or stereotypes to make small talk.

Hey fellas, why are you drinking HATERADE these days?? You can't blame the guy for trying to holla at a pretty gal!! If he continued after she
made it obvious she wasn't interested then its harrassment. Think of all the girls you have harassed or probably want to harrass!! Did she make it clear to him that she wasn't interested. Sometimes if women smile and continue to flirt back, not implying your sister did this, we guys still do wishful thinking and pick up the wrong message. Hold up on the call to Acura, but if he continues to call or make comments then make the call.

need more context

does your sister have a large body?
does you sister have a larger than average body parts?
without knowing your sister and given that you said it was sexual harrassment, i think the second. otherwise it would not be sexual harrassment but rather pc-rudeness.

clearly, lewd comments are not acceptable in a business situation. i would suggest you not buy from that dealership, report the incident to the general manager of the dealership, and report it also to acura.

why are people commenting on race? don't use it as a crutch or an aid and you will be able to claim your own success by what you do and how you do it.

Bigjoejack,

Point taken. I can see how my comment could be taken as generalized white bashing. I do admit I was a little emotional when I posted that message, and I do apologize. I tend to get that way when I come upon racial remarks.

Throughout my entire life I¡¯ve had racial slurs, usually starting with ¡°you, dumb ___¡± or ¡°stupid ___¡± (you can fill in the blanks for yourselves, knowing that I¡¯m of Asian heritage). And every time such an assault was thrown at me, and I do mean, EVERY SINGLE TIME, it came from a seemingly ignorant person with a lack of intelligence, education or the self motivation to end up with anything better than an hourly, dead-end job that requires very little education or training. In my case it always happened to be white people because I¡¯ve always lived in white neighborhoods.

So, with my previous post, I was only trying to refer to such ignorant persons that judge people by their appearance and race. So, I apologize to those of you who feel that my comment generalized or singled out whites, because that was not my intention at all and because it probably wasn¡¯t appropriate for this thread.

Nate,

Seems like my comment really pi$$ed you off?
I can see how it could if you only read or pay attention to the portion of my message you chose to quote.
Anyways, I and I¡¯m sure many more of my fellow Asian-Americans get worse racial comments flung at them. So I was wondering¡¦ do you think maybe you could maybe tell them(the racial offenders) the same thing?

As we grow up as men, it is my hope that we learn to think beyond our own little minds and desires when it comes to our relationship with others. We need to realize that "doing what comes naturally" is hardly an excuse for crude behavior. Please think of what your actions mean to the pretty gal you're holla-ing at. Most women don't appreciate direct comments about their physical attributes, especially coming from a stranger, so we need to adjust our behavior to relate. Haterade? Hardly. Try Maturity!

Oh my goodness, how far we have wandered off topic.

Ok Daverman, maybe I shouldn't have made the Haterade statement, however some women don't mind
comments about their body parts and obviously this guy had experiences with girls who let him get away with tacky statements like he said. But I have worked in sales in the past and currently work in sales and in the past I have dated some of my clients. You can't convince me that if you had
a job dealing with the public and you were single and a lady comes in that meets your physical and possibly most of your psychological needs you wouldn't try to talk to her. You would probably do it in a much smoother fashion. This guy needs to work on his pick-up line and next time close the sale first.

Honestly, depends on how he said it......

Cuz maybe he was just trying to impress her or something... I dunno.... Sometimes people don't know how to act or express what they have in mind... but honestly, I don't think it was a good thing for him to say anywayz...

BTW, I am Asian, and I think people give people trash not White to Asian, or anything like that... It's jsut that people tend to make a big deal out of it... I mean I have dealt with some Asian ASSO, some of them from my own country... So....

Now, personally, I wouldn't buy from that dealer, and if they don't return your deposite (if you have put down some) I would call Acura can complain, make sure I got my deposite back...

There's always a better deal else where...

Best luck to you and your sister...

one day I was walking out of an elevator and this guy came bashing ... I don't know whether he was born yesterday or he doesn't know that it's common courtesy to let people out first.
Anyway, so I gave him the look, and he said "what're you looking at?! fagged!". And I couldn't stopped laughing cuz he sure looks like one.

my point is, those who insult others are probably people not worth paying attention to.

just my two cents.
