Mike, it's not the rim diameter that'll get you.....it's the backspacing. A 7.5 cross section with a +45 offset is a 5.5216" backspacing....well within the 5.625" limit. A 7" cross section with a +55 offset is a 5.6654" backspacing....slightly above the 5.625" limit. The rubbing will be minor, but if the overall diameter is above the overall plus 1 or 2 upgrade....be ready for some problems.

O.K., I have a friend I saw this wekend that owns a 2000 Beetle Turbo. He lowered the vehicle and likes the look of factory as well, he got a line on 17" Porsche wheels in silver to match his car, but incurred the same problems as we did with clearance. He said he got spacers that fit over hub and lug holes that offset his wheel the few millimeters he needed for clearance. Is this a possibility for the TL, who makes these or do they have to be custom made?

Ghost, thankx a lot. That's what my idiot friend at Honda said. CLS rims appear about 10 times more sophisticated than accord coupe rims. But to each his own.

After consulting with Bobatimez and looking into both the CL-S and the TL rims, I decided to take the plunge. I picked up a set of CL-S rims this week from a CL-S owner who moved to different rims. Anyways, since he kept his tires, I was able to p/u new tires too. Same size at Bobatimez, lower profile than stock!

The final result is awesome! My car is lowered and there is NO rubbing when doing high speed manuevers or U- turns, nor any problems when hitting speed bumps.

I will post pix ASAP, but wanted to post the msg first since several of you are considering this move.

I highly recommend it even it that means a few more TL's with Type S rims.

I finally got the pix posted. You can check them out at: http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293282081

What do you think? Not even close to Bobatimez but I like it.

ehhhhh I dunno if I like it on that color, I gotta see it with a bodykit on it to fully appreciate how good it will look.

To be honest, I don't think it looks all that great, especially with the mudflaps, maybe with body kit it will look alot nicer. Also I think the front of the car needs to be lowered about 1/2 inch or so.

Yeah, I agree that the front needs to be dropped more. The H&R OE Sports are what are on the car, but with a steep driveway, I cannot put a kit on w/o ruining it the first time in or out, so I may be stuck...may drop the front though. In the meantime, I am enjoyig much better handling as the lower profile and wider and better tire REALLY helps.

I think if the rims were chromed, it may look better too, but for the price I got this set for, I'll take it. Thanks for the comments though!

Mafiosso: I'll see if I can find a silver kit to Photoshop into the pix and let you know.

Mafiosso: Well, after driving over a hundred miles of normal and agressive driving, I am happy to report absolutely no rubbing or problems. I think the solution to the appearance problem would be to drop the front another inch, and get the shaded areas on the rims painted a bit darker, like the stock rims have. That will make it look much better on the silver car. I say go for it! Email me if you have any other concerns...still looking for a good pic with a silver kit to do thepic for ya tho.

Hey Mafiosso, here is a photshopped image of a Silver TL with a kit with CL-S rims ("borrowed" AcuraTL's car pic to do the photoshop work) i hope this works, never posted an image on the posting before. if it doesn't work, here is the URL: http://www.zing.com/mypictures/inbox...L%27s%20car%20 with%20CL-S%20rims%20%28photoshop%20image%29%20for%20Mafioss o%20to%20check%20out

I never had the stock tires. the CL owner I got the rims from just changed rims, so he kept the stock tires. You can't use the stock size anyways. I followed bobatimez and used lower profile tires to avoid any rubbing problems...I may have goane a bit smaller than I needed to...that's my next project, to find how wide and tall a tire I can use on the CL-S rims and still make it work. Ran me about $1200 for everything mounted out the door..

No prob Mafioso, but then then you'll have a TL-S! I think I like the way these ride and look...even tho I still want to paint the insets to make it look better, but the ride is cool! If I change my mind or find a better buy, I'll let you know!
