Post I hate when salesmen say this......

i am only 18 years old and me and my dad are looking to purchase a tl-s. the added horsepower and torque on the tl-s is not somethign that my dad really cares about. however i told him that if he was gonna spend $30k on a tl...might as well get the type s. however, whenever we go to the dealership...two of the salesmen so far have said something like "why do u want a type s anyways? i think that 225hp on the regular TL is plenty."

i dont know why they say it...i believe its cuase they are trying to get rid of the 2001 tl's before they sell the tl-s. whenever the salesmen says that, it always discourages my dad from gettin the type s. i know its my dad's money and all but ahhahha i mean damn..they should keep that to themselves.
has anyone else ran into this problem?

ok you really should be more modest about your dad buying you car... and for the sales guy tell them that you just like the 2002 body style better and you like the wheels better on the TL-S

Buy the TLS!!

Pick up a 3.2 TL(S) brochure (if you already don't have one) and show it to your Dad ... that should the tricK ;-)

hahahhah yeah i showed him the press kit that i got from acura. he test drove the tl-s and said that he really likes the ride quality of it. i think he was sold by the navigation system and how easy to use he thought it was. i think ill also tell him about how the gas mileage is supposedly the same on the tl and the tl-s according to the sticker.

what's so funny? I guess you really are a maniac.

good luck on convincing him to go with the type-s by the way... the TL is a good car too so either way I'm sure you'll both be happy.

You may also want to mention slightly heavier rear stabilizer bar, larger wheels/tires and Vehicle Stability Assist on the Type S.

A good selling point for your dad is that TLS has VSA which works at all speed and is safer than TL's TCS which works under 25 mph.

How's the insurance cost on TLS vs TL? Much higher or no?
