I found something new to me

Since i got my car 2 months ago i have been jealous that my fathers 540 has the armrest that slides foward. I was like that would be great to have since i usually rest my hand on the shifter and the tip of my elbow on the armrest. Then this morning i was at a gas station filling up and a friend of mine pushes the armrest foward and leans his elbow on it. I was like hey how did you do that, he showed me. He also said that hes been doing it since i got the car but always put it back before i got in because he didnt want me to yell at him for playing with my stuff. I sure felt like an idiot. Anyway, im not jealous of my dads armrest anymore but now i envy his engine and handling. One day.

What do some of you guys do when you buy a car just drive it?
I knew about this way before my TL came home with me like a year before.

LOL. I think I had the sales brochures and specs of every new TL since 1999 memorized before I finally bought my 2002. It took 3 years but I finally dove in when the S came out.

Since we are on the armrest subject if you guys would look under the armrest when its opened. The top part of the armrest I am talking about when raised has about 8 screws in it. I noticed that I am missing 4 of them & the armrest is loose now. I still can't figure out how they got missing. If they had come loose they would fell into the top part of the armrest. I will take it to dealer to fix when I go in for service soon. This also makes the armrest wiggley & the latch sometimes does not catch. The armrest also pops open & up sometime. I remember post about this but I forget the info as I did not have that problem. It sure looks like misssing screws could be the problem.

I wasn't aware of it until about a week after I bought the car. My Beagle had his front paws on it while his back paws were on the back seat, I hit the breaks and he and the armrest slid forward.

I also had the armrest replaced as it wouln't stay closed. I dont know if I was missing any screws in it, but they replaced the whole thing.
