Hey everybody! I was searching for this an old thread I remember reading about the sunroof rattle and how easy it was to fix...does anyone know where it is? Or can anyone help me fix the rattle? It only rattles when it is open and seems to becoming from the front left corner of the sunroof....thanx!

 

most of us went to the dealer as there is a tsb on this. basically they apply anti-rattle tape.

Also, I bought mine used and it didn't come with a warranty...and this is the first car I've ever owned that I felt I should probably take to the dealer before anyone else...I used to have a 3 series covertible, but it was an older one and since I used to live with my parents, my dad pretty much did all the work...I'm new here...should I look into possible existing warranties I might not know about? Would that be worth it to go to the dealer to get that fixed? how much is it? Does it qualify as a long enough time to get a loaner? Thanx again!

 

they put tape on the sunroof so it doesn't rattle!! don't worry about a loaner it should take 10 min of actual work, not even.

haven't had that probem on my '99. SC354 started pushing up on my sunroof and told me that - that - was the sound people were talking about. I had never heard it and it wasn't sweakin' too much even with jeff pushin on it. I guess if it pisses you off and you notice it, get the dealer to fix it. Or ask for a DIY from some guys that have either had it done to theirs or have done it themselfs. it sounds like double sided tape with felt or foam on the side that comes in contact with the sunroof. I just don't know where to put it, I haven't had to research it. Shouldn't be too hard to find out...

 

TSB is a technical service bulletin. Basically it gives dealers common issues that are not recalls.
