I am at my wits end!

Can someone please help me with this problem? I posted in the tires and suspension section, but got no responses.

Kuzdu had the same problem I do so I will post the original question:

At first I thought it was the tires but now I am thinking it is something else. Anyone has any ideas......thanks a lot guys.
Besides the strut response, has anyone come up with the answer to this problem? I have the same issue and replacing the struts didn't solve it.

The car bounces left/right as opposed to up/down or front/back. And my steering will take off to the left or right even if the wheel is held straight. Its really evident at highway speeds, but happens at 30 mph too.

This is a list of the work I have had done that has not solved the problem:

New tires (plus tires are wearing out pretty fast due to this). This problem has been on both Yokohamas and Michelin Pilot A/S Sports.
Replaced front wheel bearings
New struts
Alignment done 4 weeks ago
Tires balanced
Tires rotated
Tie rods inspected
Power steering inspected
Brake pad/rotor rubbing not occurring

I am at a complete loss and have no idea what it could be anymore. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I have searched the forums for weeks and I can't find an answer. Thanks.

Hm,..

When I put new run flat tires on my bimmer's performance wheel set(255/35/18 and 225/40/18), I had that kind of very sensitive feeling.
They call it 'bump steer'
I hope I can help you but don't have an answer. sorry.

Sounds like my car has the same issues but just more mild. I was actually about to make an appointment for a check up because of all of this... The worst of my problems is my steering wheel shaking every time i hit 60 mph, but I think I just need new tires and alignment.

You need to have your wheels balanced.

I will check these as soon as possible. Thanks. Dumb question, but should I also check the front sway bar links? Also, is it worth going with an aftermarket sway bar if the end links are damaged and need to be fixed?

Thanks guys. Keep those suggestions coming!

Stupid question #2:

Are there any pictures of where I should be looking?

Asked dealer to inspect the end links while doing the transmission fluid change. Dealer said they looked fine. They looked ok to me when I took a look a day earlier.

Any other ideas? Could it be the rack and pinion steering? Springs?

If its doing what you describe, its most likely shocks, sways (and or endlinks) tires. You may also have a bad bushing in one of the control arms. Its not rack and pinion. Springs, doubtful.

What tires do you have on now? I have had a similar problem to this. I put on Michelin MXV4's and it feels like the car is hitting a burst of wind while at high speeds. The sidewall is so firm on the Michelins that it moves all over the place on the freeway. The car moves from left to right and ultimately wants to go to the right. I got them balanced and aligned and the tires are brand spankin new. Also I just installed brand new KYB GR-2 shocks. I have to countersteer constantly. I have heard Michelin's treads tend to follow the lines of the freeway at high speeds. I am returning my Michelins and going back to Yokohama Avid Envigors. It is most likely a bad tire that is causing your problem or it could be worn balljoints. Does the steering feel really loose and does the steering wheel move with the bumps in the road? When the car is jacked up the balljoints shouldn't move at all. If you push on the wheel and you hear a clicking noise or can see the balljoint moving they need to be replaced as soon as possible because the balljoint can break and your tire can fly off...LITERALLY.

let me take a guess that the car is lowered and the inside edge of the tire is wearing out and you did not buy the camber kits for either the front or rear when you lowered the car?
