I allways thought beemers were fast?

I was on the Garden State Parkway the other night traveling in the left lane going about 75 mph. All the sudden i see bright HID's
on my a$$. I moved over and a lowered 330ci blew by. I had said to myself when I first bought my car that i was not goin to beat on it, but I have been curious what my 03 tls can do so it was on!
I went into sportshift and downshifted to 3 no prob. I blew right by him like he was standing still. Then he started to catch up alittle. He was trying but was still about a car and a half behind me. Then I decided to have some fun with him so I would let him catch up a little and than pull away again, as by brother waved goodbye to him. He was furious and giving me the high beams as he exited the parkway. Maybee he just couldn't drive, who knows?? Anyone else ever battle with a BMW?

Acording to this month Car & Driver mag. The BMW 330ci beats the Acura CL-S6. Who knows, it could be the driver or it could be a rebadge BMW. Good race , drive safe.:p

The 330ci with a manual are quick...0-60 low 6.1-6.2, while our fellow 6spd CLs can probably take them, us automatics may have a slight more problem, but remember...it depends on the driver. If the 330ci seems slow, it maybe an automatic which would then be doing 0-60 closer to 7 seconds. I know the TL-S should be doing atleast 6.5. Just don't waste your time or gas messing with any of those "//M" cars

Yea I'm not crazy enough to mess with a M. My friend has a 2k2 M3 manual, and there is no touchin him. He has a few mods but I've seen it at the track in the very low 13's!

In general, BMWs are not fast for their cost, a 330Ci is a 40+ K car and it only pulls a upped 14 second quarter. You caan just about get a vette for that.

Yes of course...each car is unique in it's own way...now let's not turn this thread into a "I like BMW because of this and that...", I am tired of reading about all that. BMW is great, but we all bought an Acura for a reason.

Reasons i bought the acura:

1. $32,000 with Navi system
2. More leg rooms/ trunk
3. Cheaper/easier to maintenance

Reasons i didn't buy the BMW:

1. $37,000 plus to get one with a Navi
2. Crampy leg rooms / trunk
3. I already have a sportcar in my garage.

Reason I didn't buy an Acura or BMW:

1) Couldn't afford either

2) That's about it.

Closing the gap

The Acura Type S sure has closed the gap to the BMW 330: it came in second by a measly point in the C&D comparo. The Acura costs $7K less, however, so most of us would buy the S and gladly keep the $7000.
It cannot be denied that BMW makes a benchmark vehicle, but savvy buyers know the great bargain that the Acura offers here. We've got nothing to be ashamed about owning the highline Honda!

Hey don't get me wrong, I think Honda is great and all and offer the best value for the buck. Most of us would get BMWs if we had money to throw around like that.

Am I wrong, or isn't it:
Beemer = BMW motorcycle
Bimmer = BMW automobile

Or, maybe I'm just anal.

i think you're right...i tend to refer to BMW cars as bimmers too. unknowledgable people are like "no it's beamer" but i think that's right.

I dont need to:

Most magazines still say they handle sloppy since the Z's are based on 3 series chasses from the early 90's that most magazines say handle pretty sloppy. You can put all the hp you want in a car, were talking about "fun" driving... a Miata for example would be better then any bmw.

I need to get some of that stuff you are smoking....Listen, the s2000 is a great car by any standard, but it just isn't a BMW...you can't even really compare the two. By the way, the new M3 and the M coupe both have better skidpad numbers and acceleration numbers than the s2k. Theres no denying that the s2k is one sweet little performer, but it's just in a different class than BMW.

Your still off topic but heres some history:

I don’t recognize your authority in the matter. However, every car magazine review done of the S2000 Vs last generation M's clearly noted that the S2000 dominated it in every way (note: not just performance but things like “quality of build”). I’m sure you can find the articles, there’s about 10 of them out there done by all of the major magazine…

Honda forced Porsche to release a Boxster S to compete with the S2000 in direct responce.. .and the same with BMW's M model. So much for ultimate driving machine...

and the S2000 is STILL funner to drive (pertaining to what this thread is about).. Miata to...

nice run, i ran into a blue M5 near Universal Studios, i revved at the and then i guned it, then i braked so we could leave at the same time, but he floored it while i was braking and i couldn't catch up, gave him the thumbs up...

off topic kind of but i ran a GS400, i was a the street races, i saw a newer GS pull up, i asked if he had a 3 or a 4, at first he said 4 then he's like no i have a 3, so i'm like lets race, we line up, and he whoops me off the line, i'm like dang my cars broken, i about to say lets line up again, but as we drove back i saw the big "400", , but we talked and and he was cool, i had some other races, including a clk430, this was from a 40mph roll, it was pretty even, i couldn't tell b/c when we started we weren't lined up... sorry for running off, i just raced last night so this tread got me back into it...

key word : LAST gen M3----And I am quite an authority, since I have driven both extensively...I'm not putting down your S2K at all, it's a sweet car, but you can't honestly say that you wouldn't rather have a M3 if the price was not an issue. It also looks a lot better.

I would not run with a E39 M5 unless I had a Lotus V8....

or a 360 Modena, or a Porsche Turbo, or a McF1 or a C6....

Most likely the C6, since I can actually afford one...
