Was humilated by CLK320

I was driving on the road today, I was humilated and toyed by this darn new CLK320 (pretty sure not AMG). He beat me on every light. I have tried SS and D5. Same result. I guess the difference in $$$ is there.

wtf man? you have a TL-S and you lost to a clk320? somethings wrong here...the 320 isnt the problem for us, its the 430...that's where its a neck to neck race, where it all comes down to the driver. You should be able to take the 320 no problem

Sounds like you were a little shy to mash the gas pedal all the way down.

I have an 01 TLP and I killed a new clk320 - in automatic mode.
He wanted to play but backed off kinda quick when I killed him off the line. And yes it was floored.

No that it matters that much, but the only mod i have is an AEM CAI.

Yeah, you should have absolutely no problem with beating a CLK320. My sister has an E320 and even when I hit the gas hard, it isn't even as close in quickness to my TL-S. If you see one next time, let that VTEC roar and show those highfalutin Mercedes drivers what's up..

would my '99 4speed be able to face the clk320? i say it because the difference in 0-60 between a '99 and a '00 is the same between a '00 and a 03-S

Maybe the 320 wasn't stock.

hahaha....I was reading this theread last week and didn't know that a CLK320 was that easy to whup on....but I raced this hardass on the Atlantic City expressway on Saturday....and I was really surprised. Here's how it went...I was cruising around at 65 waiting for someone to drive by a little faster to have in front of me...and this CLK320 blazes by me...so I took the bait and floored it...as soon as he saw me coming up, he slowed down REAL fast to 65 and cut to the far right lane...I'm assuming he was getting ready to race....so I follow him like that for awhile, and then he starts to slow down to 50...then 45....so I'm wondering what the hell...then all of a sudden he takes off. I floor it, and surprisingly I was right next to him in an instant...I really didn't think I would pull on him so soon...so he looks over at me, grimaces, then floors it. So I floor it again and once again to my surprise...I pulled on him very nicely....hehehe....and all I was trying to do was avoid a ticket....but this guy baited me in anyway....oh yeah, that and I also raced a 328i that night...but....well....we don't need to go there. The Mercedes was what I was worried about and it wa just a toy...go out and play!

528 are HEAVY and even though they are 5 series it's still a 2.8, we have 3.2

All righty!! I have let u guys (and gals) down, but I am ready to do it! Let's floor this baby. Oh, one question, floor it in auto or in SS?? In SS, when u floor it, how long would the rpm reach the redline, I wouldn't want to blow my engine up for overshifting..

a 320 is pretty easy to beat.. my friend has one and he has never really stood much of a chance.... the 430's on the other hand can be a little hard but u can still do it

when you go after this clk again do it in SS mode to really show him whats up... and be sure to shift before you hit redline..... otherewise ur not really getting that much power... by 3rd gear he should be nothing more than a speck in ur rearview mirror!

for everyone that thinks SS will be faster than just flooring it in auto, it wont. The auto on the TL's (or at least mine) revs up right to redline when flooring it and switches just when u need to switch, as opposed to overshifting that you might do on the SS which would loose you seconds.

Reving it higher and higher past redline doesnt mean you'll go faster, it means you'll get up faster for those 2 seconds your reving, but then you lose alot more when you switch gears later. SS is only good for twisties.

humm... my 0-60 times are always better when i use SS... and my 80-120 times are WAAAAAAAAAAAY better if i use SS. like 50% faster!! my car shifts to 4th at like 100-105 if i leave it in auto, and it's damn slow after that.. if i use SS, i can shift at like 115 and it's much faster in 4th gear than auto..

D1>D2>D3>D4 is the best way to run ur car... i dont recommend anyone racing on public streets or highways... but hey u drive a sedan, not like we take our family sedan to the track to get respect.

on the highway tho SS would be better, u probably wont downshift to 2nd...if u do make sure u match the rev... our transmissions go fast especially 2nd and 3rd clutch pack.

My friend had an 01 E320 sport... Off the line no match i would walk away from him. On the freeway different story. He was pretty much even w/ my 00' TL - P w/ CAI and pullies... We were side by side up to 90 then my vtec kicked in 3rd gear and i pulled a car on him.

Kilometers right? im glad the TL has such great safety features. One of the main reasons i got the TL instead of the RSX... I feel safer in 4 doors, V6 and 3000+lbs.

CLK320 weighs like 3500lbs and it's only got 215 horses.

Maybe it had been moded by Brabus? I know they don't "AMG" CLK320's.

my bestfriend had a 2002 brabus S500. He considered the 7 liter conversion but it would have cost him 30k + even after trading in his stock engine, let alone he wouldnt have his car for a few weeks. It would smoke any stock amg prepped car. S55, E55, etc... Brabus of N. America is located in SOCALIFORNIA.

Anyone who buys a CLK320 definetly wasnt thinkn bout "BRABUS". Unless theyre the type to turbocharge a TL...

It just isnt worth it... i know they do have V8 engine swaps for the CLK320 but cmon... why not just buy the clk430 and enjoy the car for what it is???

....well, maybe I didn't mean to say "Brabus" BUT I have seen somewhere an older CLK320 heavily moded AND it was fast.

And I think you mean supercharge instead of turbo AND the NEW CLK's don't come in 430's but 500's

when i referred to turbocharge a TL... its literally impossible unless u have lots and lots of $$$$ to burn.

I know benz uses roots type blowers and they are quite efficient...

Ive seen several top gear videos on amg and brabus very impressive...

They are not sports cars tho.. keep that in mind.
