How's your NAV touch screen sensitivity?
Anyone find that they sometimes either have to press really hard or press twice on the touch screen buttons in order for the keypress to register? Just wondering whether this is to be expected, meaning there ain't much the dealer can do about it, or is my touch screen display just a tad bit flaky?
Thanks,
Tony

I think the problem is not with the sensitivity of the screen but with the processor that is running the commands. It is annoying at times, especialy if you are using it on the fly at an intersection and you want to know which way to go.

I too thought at times it was slow. I even thought it may be broken because I would touch one part of the screen and it would register it as another button. After further investigation, I found out that DIRECT sunlight affects it drasticly! If you ever experience this again, just put a shade over the nav screen while your pushing the buttons and you'll see a big difference.
The Acura navi is incredibly slow, my Lexus DVD navi is about 3x faster in caculating and recalculating.... one of the problems why its so slow is that you have to manually localize the search area by inputting a city vicinity. Otherwise it is trying to match up POI and street names all over the USA!!
In the Lexus navi (which is made by Denso) the default region is where the car is at...for example if you're in california then it will search only the western region (CA, NV, UT etc.) unless you change the search area to a different region. This makes more sense!

Yes, it does seem slow at times and sometimes the finger presses don't seem to register right away, but I still like the system. I do agree, however, that the Lexus NAV is probably the best one out there!
i think the touch screen has to do with heat... just like the touchpads on a laptop it senses the heat to define the position that you're pressing, so if you parked it under the sun or if you have the sunroof open while using it, chances are it won't be as accurate

I've noticed the same thing

The dealer gave me a tip regarding the touch-screen. Rather than tapping the buttons, you need to slide your finger slightly over the button. The screen picks up the motion much easier than it does a tap. Try it, it works!

You can see the "button grid" from inside the hidden maintenance menu.

This might be a dumb question, but are there fees for using the Nav?
