How's this new official information for new TL?
Here is some offical info on new TL (Well at least for JDM Inspire in Japan)

Here is the translation:
"HONDA in June, sells new model Inspire. So far, the North American product was imported, but it will change to US made from next term type. The platform of the Accord is used, but content is the upper-class sport sedan of the different kind. The domestic Accord compared to one it turns and at large body size, assures substantial quality rise. The rival decisively is the Toyota Aristo
The adoption the automatic type seat belt involvement device of new development will be used. As for on-board engine V6 cylinder 3000cc of new development i-VTEC with DOHC. For the first time, the new mechanism which will change to 3 cylinder travelling automatically the high-speed cruise time with computer control, saves fuel economy.
The Saber of the sisters car is abolished, only the brand of Inspire will be sold across all HONDA store. It is the policy of aiming toward the sale 2000 in month"

okay...i understood about 7 words from that, but what i did pick up is it's only gonna be a 3.0L??
why would they make the engine smaller? I know honda works some miracles with hp/L, but increasing the hp while decreasing the engine size is gonna be tough.

That sound more the the fuel economy-based VTEC-E, which shuts down cylinders during cruising. Unfortunately, I don't think this sheds much light on the '04 TL for the US market.
[edit] actually - it only shuts down one intake valve/cylinder - not the whole cylinder....
