do you want to update the map drive
or replace the entire unit with something aftermarket with stereo, big screen,
some pretty cool stuff you can mod into the dash

iirc most people convert to the DVD based drive (which iirc swaps right in, but yeah $$$, but you might be able to find a used DVD drive one out of a newer TL though)

go to navhelp.com ... you can get a new hard drive that plugs in for the old one. only $100. I got one and it works great. fixed the blue and yellow screen that always appeared.

If you want updated map data, you'll have to upgrade to one of the DVD-based units that was used in the 2000-2003 TL and some other Acura/Honda models. The map data files for the hard drive based units haven't been updated for years.

Your better off upgrading to DvD-Rom Navi system that what i did. It will cost you around $200-300, but will worth it

I have one extra DVD Rom navi unit. If you interested in, let me know. I also have code for the unit. I know it's 100% working condition. cause I tested it.
