How to remove turn signal switch/ stalk?

Does anybody know how to remove the turn signal switch/ stalk.

I have a problem with my signal blinking intermittently with and without me pressing my brakes, also resulting in no brake light. I've read that over time the switch builds up and gets contaminated with metal particles thus shorting out.

I found a guild to remove it and clean it but, it was for a different car, and I could not really follow it.

first I heard of this on a TL--anyone else??

Have you looked at the brake light switch under the pedal arm- thats a well known failure that would directly affect the brake lights, and the turn signals are really the brake light side of the bulb being flashed

What are your turn signals doing? Installed LED lights anywhere?
All the bulbs work - every exterior one? all the brake light bulbs including the center light

If I suspected dirt of any kind, a shot of CRC electronic cleaner thru any openings in the plastic would be easy method to clean it up

my car is all stock as far as light bulb goes. I already replaced the flasher, brake switch and all the bulbs are still good.

Its kinda complicated but let me try the problems im having,

1. when all the lights are on the tail light turn signal is also on, just very dim.
2. When I step on the brake, the turn signal turns on and only the 3rd brake light
3. when I signal left or light it either is really slow or fast inside the car, but the rear taillight its the opposite side brake light that flashes. also I hear a clicking noise in the shifting area while turn signal is on and off.

These are textbook symptoms of a bad ground. It could be at any of the sockets, connectors, or where the wires ground to metal. Check the front if you don't find anything in the rear. A single filament bulb in a 2 filament socket can cause this type of problem as well.

good call trash

Start with checking every bulbs function, check the brake light switch, check every bulb conection by removing it, look at the contacts, apply `dielectric grease` (special electrical grease) to each contact and put bulb back in- do that for each turn signal front and back and the brake lights- check the center brake lights too.iirc there are 2 bulbs in it

corrosion will cause a bad ground right at the thing you are trying to power

Check the main NEG cable at the battery and where it attaches to the engine body, and the aux ground cables from body to engine-trans

there is a strange ground wire under the spare tire - I read here about it-
often loose after stereo removal

This is not the case on many cars, including ours. The turn signals are independent.

iirc when replacing the tail bulbs on my tL- while they are fancy hi $ bulbs, there is still a low power element and a high power
the high is for brake lights or ts, thats what I meant- like an 1157 does

Is the TL different and I didnt notice?
egads I am losing knowledge faster than hairline
