Post How Much Are Your Payments

Just wondering how much your monthly payments are. I see that some of us put a lot down and some put next to nothing. I put 10k down and pay $264 a month

Wow that's a real low monthly payment, how much is your APR and how many months are your payments? I put down more than 10K and my monthly payment is about $500 for 60 months.

I put down 3k and pay $495. First of all, I would never put down 10k on a car. That is not wise in my opinion. Plus, it is not about the downpayment, but your apr. And your apr is determined by good your credit report is.

Funny you should ask; I'm looking into refinancing this week to take advantage of recent interest rate cuts!

My payment is $580 on a 5-year note. Yeech. I'm going to refinance for a shorter term, so my payment will probably go up about 20 bucks or so.

1) Putting extra money down isn't wise? Only if that money couldn't be put to a higher-paying rate, such as credit card debt or invested at a rate expected to perform better than your APR. Otherwise the more you pay up front, the less interest will accrue...

2) APR is highly dependent on your consumer credit rating, yes, but you can still shop around and find a wide variance of rates for any one given person. I personally fell prey to "new car fever" and got raped at 12% through Acura (American Honda Finance), so I'll be looking to refinance very soon. Dropping to 8% will save me thousands over the length of my term even if I don't pay it off early, which I hope to do.

$0.00

If you can pay cash up front, you save in the long run (that is, if you're planning to keep the car a long time. If not, you should lease, anyway.)

You can refinance at any time that you find someone willing to refinance you. I found a great credit union called Seattle Telco for people that work in downtown Seattle. They hooked me up real good.

If you put 14 down then your value should still exceed your payoff in one year. You would of course make out like a bandit if you can sell trh car privately for retail value than trade it in. Two years the tables will start to turn and the car's value won't be strong enough to offset the pay-off. I was considering getting a 2001 last month because I saw 99's with the same mileage going for 25,000 retail. I only owed 12,000 so 13,000 down would put me exactly at where I was with my 99, even better. Problem is I couldn't find a serious buyer and a trade-in wouldn't have made it worth it. So I am just modding my baby and she is with me til the end.

I put down 6K and got the loan at 14.4% for 60 months @ $642 .

Trying to refinance, only have about $24K left to go. Was paying about $1,000 per month last 5 months, so that helped lower it.

Thanks Adam,
Hmm... I guess I will try and get a private buyer. I'm thinking the design might change in a couple years and i will think more about getting a new TL-S. Either that or upgrading to something more bling bling..
But until then, mods mods mods...

I paid sticker ($28,405) for my '99TL /w Lojack from Rallye Acura in August of '99.
Could have waited a few more months for the 2000, but needed a car in a hurry.

I put $9,000 down and financed $21,848.91 for 60 months @ 7.95% (Still have the stub from the check my Credit Union handed me). In addition to this, I'm paying a total of $1,116.48 over the course of the loan in insurance. If I'm injured and unable to work, the remainder of the loan is paid at no expense to me. The jury is still out on if this was really worth the $300/yr I pay for it after interest is tacked on.

Monthly payment: $462.76. (Would be ~$437 without that insurance)

I still owe $15.7k on the car, which I'm okay with, because I'm certain I could get $20k for the car. (KBB trade-in is $18,835. I have a few dings and scratches, but I'm having most of the noticable stuff repaired)

I think I'll end up keeping this car until it dies though. I'd like to pick up a CLK430 once I'm done with the loan on this car, but don't think I could live without a 4 door. ;-)

Aralan Doesn't the CLK come in a 4 door version too? I could've sworn I've seen one before on the road.

But at least you don't have to pay so much for insurance on your TL.

Traded in my 98 Accord for $15,000 and financed the balance at 7.3% $329.00 for 5 years! Then i decided to pay it off a couple of months ago. Why are you guys paying $600.00 plus, if you put 10 plus grand down and finance the rest?

The Mercedes E class looks sort of like a 4 door CLK, however I'm pretty sure they're a completely different animal. My insurance isn't as nice as you'd think. $5200/yr.. makes me want to cry. You only get to be 20 once though! ;-)
