How much would it cost to replace AT to MT?

Hi all, I am wondering how much it would cost to replace my tranny from AT to MT when it goes bad *knock of wood* I don't expect it to happen yet or anytime in the near future (3-5 years). Instead of going out and shop for another car, I would really love to keep the one I have and convert to a manual (if the price is right). Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Do a search it would require a lot of custom work as none of the 2nd Generation TLs came in manual .

Nope, something you would have to do yourself or get a shop to do.

I can't even imagine how much it would cost to do that in a shop... Anyway, thanks KSuchdeve.

Thanks Fsttyms1, I might as well sell my TL and add in that 10k for a third gen MT instead. How much did all the parts cost you?

Great work on the work on your car btw, I wish I have that kind of car knowledge and could do something cool like that.

5500 +- a few dollars. I had never done it before on a tl so it was new to me, every thing is a direct bolt in, the key is to not be scared to do it. You can rent every thing needed to do the job

I was hoping if my tanny does fail and if it's within the warranty period, I'll have to dealer switch it for me, oh well.
