by not start, did it crank and crank and not fire, or did it just not crank either?

i tried to start it..seems like it was goin to start but died..then i turned the key and held it there and it started upp...so i guess that eliminates the immobilzer problem?

Well as it turns out you have a 99 and they had a ignition switch problem. Contact your dealer. They may replace it for free

If I recall correctly, the "recall" on the switch was a result of symptoms such as shutting off randomly, not difficulty to start. Correct me if I'm wrong?

If I'm not wrong on that, there could be a different issue.

And I also thought every single '99 was covered in that... Mine was manufactured in late March of 1999, twords the end of the model year, and I had the problem and the recall as well...

Ignition switch should run you $50 - $60 and I can't imagine then charging more than and hour to install.

You could easily do it yourself

1) Disconnect battery
2) Remove plastic cover around steering column (2 screws on the underside of cover)
3) Remove 2 screws holding ignition switch in
4) Trace the wiring harness back to the fuse box
5) Disonnect wiring harness
6) Connect new ignition switch

Back when I was trying to diagnose my 1999 TL's stalling problems I bought a replacement ignition switch for less than $60 form an Acura dealer's online sales dept. I have no idea what the $300 part might be.

If you can, post the Acura part numbers here and someone might be able to help out.

Bob
