How much to pay for '03?
I'm getting ready to put forth some cash for an '03 Type S w/o nav. How much did you guys get your '02 or '03 for?
Does anyone know the invoice price for an '03? I can only find info for the '02 which is $28,942 including destination. Since the MSRP went up exactly $100, I'm assuming that the invoice for the '03 is $29,042? I also discovered that the dealership gets back 3% of the base MSRP or $940 for the '03.
Any info would be appreciated for my negotiations ('02 or '03).
Thanks

Don't know where you are, but the key to getting a good price is to get dealer competition. I paid 29,500 (excluding TTL) for O3 TLS w/o navi, including nose mask, mud flaps, security package. Assume invoice is 100 over 02. Check out the various WEB sites like Edmunds.com, Bluebook.com. Fightingchance.com is a great source, though you pay $25. They give you recent purchse price info for your area. I used their advice and Faxed 11 dealers (fleet managers)within 4 hours drive. Got 4 responses and negotiated between them over the phone. Range of offers was 30,700 at the high to the ultimate low of 29500. I had to drive 4 hours to OKC to get the car, but it was worth it to me to save $500. The dealeer offered to drive it to me!! I didn't want anyone else driving it. Some people wouldn't bother, and that's fine. Good luck in your search and purchase. Don't forget to negotiate the extras - like the extended warranty if you want it.

My old car (88-Integra w/ 183k miles) literally fell apart on the way to work today. Ball joint failed on the left front control arm, wheel went up into fender, frame hit the highway and I managed to steer it to the shoulder.
I hate the smell of burned rubber in the morning!
Then I had the beast towed home!
Anyway, it gave me a good excuse to go car shopping today.
I got a 2003 TL Type S (white/parchment - w/o nav). Added gold emblems, pinstripe, mud flaps, trunk liner and wheel locks. Total bill was $30,200 out the door.:p
So I ended up getting ~$400 of extras and paid $1158 over invoice.
Hope this helps!

Got my 2003 TL type S NBP w/o Nav 3 weeks ago. Car came with wheel locks, pinstripes, mud flaps. My price was $29,700. However I had to pay Dealer fee of $500 which includes free
loaner, plus some coupons for free oil changes and discounts
for major services. They wouldn't budge on eliminating the $500!
So if you add it up basically paid $30,200.
Worth every penny.

They tried to tack on a $150 processing fee so I told them OK as long as they lowered the base price by $150 so that the total was still the same. They balked a little until I told them that I was hungry, tired of negotiating and was going to get lunch and talk with the other dealer in town.
My final price was over $2k less than their first offer. They showed me that Edmunds TMV pricing for the '03 is MSRP. Having printouts with me from this and other sites (showing low actual prices) made all of the difference.
Sounds like you got a fair deal CabanaBoy!

Got an '03 TL-P w/ Navi + Onstar, wood/leather steering wheel, wood shift knob, and spoiler for $31900 + TTL.
Pretty good deal considering all the options, and the fact I ordered it just as the '03's were rolling out and dealers were charging premiums.
Still waiting though...

I pick mine up tomorrow... '03 TL-S with Navi Silver/Ebony.
Price was $31,900. And it did not take much haggling at all. The dealer quoted me $32,200 when I first inquired. They threw in the floormats and wheellocks, which is really all I wanted. I also specifically requested a fresh-off-the-truck car with no test drives. The odometer statement that I just signed and mailed back to them said '6' .
Very happy with the experience so far, and hope the experience continues to be good after I pick the car up.
BTW... I am dealing with Lindsay Acura in Columbus, OH.

Wow Zesta,
You scored- I have an 03/type s/ Navi- And I payed more. I am just outside of Chicago and they are in hot demand here. Very little negotiating- It pays to live in Ohio when buying car- Since this car is made there I wonder if they get a break in destination fees
:wow:

I paid $720 below MSRP for my 2003 TL-s w/o Navi. They also threw in my first oil change for free, free car washes anytime, and free Wheel locks. Apparently no one is stealing these cars, but they are stealing the wheels.

Just picked mine up. Went to a diffrent dealer than I had first started with. Paid $31540 for '03 TL-S with navi. With all the options the second dealer was $1000 cheaper and gave me $500 more for my trade-in than the first dealer.

What type of car also?
My sixth sense is not working well today.
I paid $28,460 +TTL, for a 03 Antracite TL-P w/o nav. Which a $1000 uder invoice. Since I had been to 3 Acura dealerships that day, and it was the only Antracite (must have for me) that I had seen all day, I took it.
I could of purchased a 2002 for $2000 under MSRP, but no can do, I wanted that color, which wasn't made until now.
I did talk to a fellow at Los Gatos Acura (in California) yesterday, and he said their selling TL's for $1000 over invoice, I think that would of been another $1000 off in my case.
Oh well,

Sounds like some of you are doing your research and others are not. When you say things like floor mats being thrown in, wheel locks, and mudgaurds, those are rather trivial don't you think. Especially if you read the window sticker and it says that FLOOR MATS are included! Wheels locks cost about $20 and mudgaurds about $40.
I think the dealership is entitled to at least $800 to $1200 profit on a $32,000 to $34,000 vehicle, don't you? That is only about 3-4%. There is nothing else in this country that has that little of mark-up yet plays such a large role society, almost everyone desires transportation. Plus the people that you are buyinf from are there to make a living and feed there families just like you and I. Did you know that a salesperson will make about $100 on average from a sale that is only $400-$500 above invoice! And that person probably spent several hours with you. And the average sales person nationwide only sells 11 cars/month. And you wonder why every time you go to a dealership there are new sales people. That means selling a lot of cars to make a decent living.
Anyway, enough ranting. Just don't go around beating everybody up on price. Find someone you like, pay a fair profit, and you will get very good service in the long run.
You never know when that Tranny might go out, and don't think they they won't remember you!
BTW, I own a 2003 TL-S, paid $1100 over invoice, it was the best buying experience I ever had!
