How much hp is too much???
I know a lot of you are looking for more mods to put on our cars. It seems that if we added all the available and upcoming mods, we would be adding up to an additional 95hp to our cars (i/h/e-45hp, pulleys-20hp, mm1&2-30). Not taking into account the “trans defect”, is the tl-s trans designed to handle all this additional hp? There must be some threshold that if crossed, will put too much stress on the trans or worse void the warranty. I’m not planning to add all these mods (don’t have any yet), but was just curious.
I'm pretty sure that these mods don't produce additive gains, i.e., you can't just sum the gains from each and say that's the total power gain. I may be wrong, but that's typically not the case. Short of forced induction, additional enhancements typical succumb to the law of diminishing returns.

Hey TLinBama..you think caddy made it work? Have you ever driven the STS or DTS..They have more torque steer than anything I have ever drivenand they plow into turns like a cow. With that much HP and torque going to the front wheels, your going to have MAD torque steer..There is no way to cheat physics..Our TL's are great cars with the power they have, but trying to get up above 300 with front wheel drive is just going to give you a work out trying to keep that steering wheel straight. Acura hopefully will wake up and give us all a nice RWD TL in 2004. Then we can talk about major horsepower and torque, until then, we can all dream of an M5.
Caddy hasn't made it work.
I don't even notice any torque steer in my TL-S at full throttle. It seems like my '95 Honda Accord EX (2.2L VTEC) has more torque steer.
And I'm betting that one cannot add 95 hp from simple bolt ons. I'm not talking about Nitrous or SC'ing, either, just those listed above.

Does it work - yes
Is it flawless - no
I think that with an engine out there like the S2K's and FWD LSD, Honda could make a 300+hp FWD car that is fast and tolerably drivable. It might not be a well balanced daily driver/race car, but it sure would be fast. I have to believe that an engine with a mid-range rpm torque peak (not low end grunt like a Caddy V8) and very high rpm hp peak would be somewhat more stable than a Caddy. I know that 300 hp is a long-standing limit for FWD cars, I was first told that in the mid to late 80s. Because of that, I don't think we'll settle it with late evening musings in cyberspace. However I will admit that there is a distinct limit for each car individually. Take for example the Ford Lightning which added 20 hp. Slower acceleration times have been recorded because launching that thing is near impossible.
BTW, the reasons the STS plows into curves is high sidewall tires and pure mass.

eh...i wouldnt say its "easy work" at all. not saying its impossible but its definitely not as easy as you may think.

enough is not enough guys. But we have to admit that our cars come with defect trannies and its a ticking bomb. I have a 650hp Saleen daily driver and still not happy. Sometimes after I drive the TL-S and want adrenaline, I take the stang for a daily ride. But still we're talking apples and oranges since the stang can stand that and more but I don't think the TL-S will even stand to 340.....we'll see when the supercharger arrives....right now I sweat everytime I squeeze the NOS and it's only 75hp shot......
