How much does 60k service cost?

How much does 60k service cost?

Hey guys,
Im due for the 60K service and wanted to know how much I should look to pay, what exactly is covered, and am I better off taking it to a dealer to get it done.

I work for an Acura dealership and according to one of my service advisor buddies, he said $541. Don't know if it's the same everywhere, but I would suspect that price is a good ballpark.

Check out your manual. It's just paying service people to check/replace your fluids and filters.

Definitely a waste of money. Just rotate the tires and change the oil. Keep a check on fluids and stuff, but 60k isn't enough for major service.

60K is one of the bigger servicing intervals....

gggrrrr....

- Change oil/ Filter

- Inspect front and rear break discs/calipers/pads

- Inspect power steering system and fluid

- Inspect and tighten suspension mounting bolts

- Inspect and adjust alternator drive belt tension

- Inspect Cat. heat shield

- Replace air cleaner element

- Inspect ignition wiring/timing control system

- Replace fuel filter/check hoses

- Inspect lights

- Inspect CV boots

- Lubricate hinges

- Adjust vavles

- Inspect break hoses/lines

- Replace break fluid

- Inspect steering operation/tie rod ends/ steering box/boots

- Inspect and adjust power steering pump belt

- Inspect exhaust pipes/mufflers

- Inspect cooling system hoses and connection

- Check/refill fluids

- Inspect EGR sys.

- Adjsut engien to factory specifications

- Rotate tires/check pressure

- Inspect/flush ABS system

- Replace AC cabin filter

That's a whole lot of money for a whole lot of "inspections". Not paying hundreds of dollars to anyone who just LOOKS at something. I can do that myself.

You'd be suprised how many idiots you see driving around with burned out bulbs because they can't inspect the lights themselves. Those "recommended services" are more for paranoid people who know nothing about cars but have cash that they don't need. Just go through the list and do the things that you can and pay a mechanic to do everything else.
