How to more noise from exhaust?

I want to be able to get more noise from my exhast without buying new ones. The reason I want to do this is because sometimes I want to get some attention by reving but currently no one can hear it. Is there something that can be done to get some growl from those pipes, or the engine (not intake), and preferebly something inexpensive?

Get a power drill and drill some holes in your mufflers. But why would you want noise to get attention? That's what the horn is for.

well it sounds like you want to be cheap so drilling holes or taking off the exhaust would be my recommendations. Also, if you want great engine sounds, take out the whole airbox and replace it with nothing. Who needs those extra parts anyway?

Man...I never knew a TL guy would do this to his car. The way to do this is to use a cheap brand muffler (Focuz, Arospeed,.. stuff you see on EBay). I had two Focuz mufflers welded to my AV6's stock b-pipe, and it was freaking loud already. Then I went to a catback, then it wayyyy too loud! My ears were ringing after I got out of my car everyday! Believe me, you don't really want to do this, it becomes a daily annoyance and you'll hate to drive. I loved it at first, but it got old quick. And if you currently have quality mufflers like Comptech, I would really refrain from drilling holes in them.

- two cheap mufflers on stock b-pipe -> loud
- two cheap mufflers on stock b-pipe with a straight pipe welded in place of the stock pre-muffler (cut the pre-muffler off) -> louder
- catback with inline resonators -> even louder
- no mufflers like a Mustang -> even even louder
- no mufflers and no b-pipe like a drag -> super loud! everyone will hear your car from miles away,..and you probably need ear muffs to drive safely.

Just get aftermarket exhaust. Comptech is good. You don't want a nasty growl like some cheap exhaust on a civic, but maybe a little something more than what stock exhaust gives you.

Install a cold intake system and put the pedal to the metal and see if that is loud enough first.

correct me if i'm wrong but someone told me that if you remove the resonators from the exhaust system that you would pick up some more sound. Would that be a good thing to do or would it screw something up.

I think what he is trying to say is if he gets new tips or something like that would it help the sound. I don't know if this is possible though.

I took my resanators out, and got two flowmasters. 50 Series 3 chamber. IT is bad ass. It is louder than comptech. More depper. Sounds like the car was for speed like it is. Some peps preffer quietness and some want just down dirty muscle. I highly reccomend this if you want a lil noise inside cabin noise and more on the outside. I cant stand those little rice burrners civics. JUst pisses me off. You want DEEP!

ok i just looked under my car and where the muffler is i see 2 bolts holding it on to the y pipe. so all i do it unbolt those and take the mufflers off? also there is like a little metal bar holding the muffler in place. how do i get this to come off? is it easy to put back on in case i dont like the sound? also are there going to be any problems with my car if i decide i dont want the mufflers on? thanks

I removed my resonator under the air filter and it does give you a deeper sound-not quite as loud as an intake but it is a little louder at WOT....

This is ridiculous. Buy a Mustang if you want a loud factory exhaust. What loud do you want? Only v-8s and bigger truly provide that GROOOOOOOOOWL you may want. So get that mustang.

I think the V-tec is distinctive at speed, just be happy, no.

thats the problem, when you try to get attention noone hears it. drilling the holes is ghetto:o . also one of my boys was like if you take off the mufflers, you will get carbon monoxide poisoning. is this true?

if you shut your garage door, leave your car running and decide to hang out in there for a while or if you decide to put your mouth around the y pipe while the car is running. you can get carbon monoxide poisoning from any car with mufflers or without.
