Talking How many women TL-S drivers out there?

I'm real interested to know how many women have purchase or are primary drivers of the TL-S, and what were YOUR motivations and concerns when weighing out the TL-S against other cars you were considering?

Thanks in advance for the input!

Out of the 5 TL-S I have seen on the road, 2 of them have been women. Only one of them seemed like they actually were the primary driver(younger, lat 20's).

Good luck finding a woman TL-S owner. Its hard enough to find one for the TL.

I own a Dark Emerald Pearl Type "S" and love it! I'm a 41 year old female and love sporty cars. I had 1998 blue TL that came off of a lease and was test driving every car that was a possiblity...from the Audi to the Volvo. I kept coming back to Acura. I know I drove my salesman crazy because I made at least 5 visits to the dealership. I see that black and silver are popular colors with the guys and even the Aegean Blue for the younger crowd. Since I was buying the car, I wanted a color that I wouldn't tire of in a few years. The green with a dark tint on the windows looks pretty good. And there you have it. If you see me drivin', smile and wave!

You can be an "honorary" Type-S... As long as you don't steal the badge from a TL-S.

NOTE - This does not mean you can't grab one from a CL-S! (j/k).....

Hey everyone! I'm a 26 yr old female with a Silver TL-S...just got it 2 weeks ago. I looked at the Maxima SE Anniv Edition and the BMW 3-series. Given my age, people say I should've gotten the 3-series, but as you all know, the TL-S is awesome so of course I fell in love with it! Not to mention I got a good deal for the DC area for being a young female negotiator

I noticed that my neighbor just got a new Lexus IS300 about a week before I got my TL-S. I saw him outside tonight, and asked him how he liked his car.

He said that - like most of us - he looked at everything in this price range for about a year. Anyway, then he told me that even though he has been driving it lately, it's his wife's car, and as soon as she turns in her company car she will be driving it.

You always think of these as being more of a guy's type of car, but I guess there are a lot of women out there that like them. In fact, the first time I ever saw a TL was when a former boss took us out to lunch in her '99 TL. As soon as I saw it, I knew that would be the next car I would be buying.

As a sidenote, my neighbor said that he really liked the TL-S and was in fact leaning towards getting it, but his wife picked the IS-300.

COngrats & nice choice of colors. It's one of the few colors I would consider, if I get a TL-S later on. And, oh yeh, I doubt I'll see ya, your 2 far away!

Good choice. I know you'll love the TL-type S. Also glad you didn't get the Maxima. Nice cars, but that back end is UGLY!

More power to you. What's wrong with the ladies driving a hot car? Of course, there is nothing worse than some granny driving a tricked out Vette!

That's a grand total of TWO women who've replied mentioning their TL-S's.. Thanks for the posts, and keep 'em coming. We'll bridge the gap between the sexes, I swear!!

I don't think the TL-S can really be applied to any one age group or sex. It's a classy car.. with chiseled good looks and ample power! (I say ample and not "tons" cuz I'm getting used to the limits of the 260 hp w/ over 1400 miles on it so far)... I can see almost anyone driving it, and it doesn't invoke that yuppied aura, or that sophisticated german energy -- it's classy, yet refined and practical -- I think 260 horses are very practical, don't you?

Ok you know I love my TL-S

I test drove the Lexus ES & the IS, the BMW 325 and the 2001 Acura TL before deciding on the TL-S...

Before that I did a ton of research that included all of the cars in the general price range: Maxima, Mercedes C, Infiniti, Audi, Volvo, Saab - all eliminated from the final 4 for one reason or another

The car that most closely matched my desires was the BMW, but I really was worried about it being in the shop more often than the Acura and how much the repairs would cost -

I wanted the manual transmission, but went for the Acura for all the reasons that you all did.....

I am a female and the primary driver of a TL-S. I was looking for something with a lot of horsepower and great value. I test drove all the usual suspects, but decided that I liked the look of the TL-S and with all of the luxury features standard, none of the other models could compete. We were planning on buying a regular '01 TL, but luckily I found out about the Type S in time.

I, too, am a proud female owner of a new TL-S -- picked it up last Thursday night. WDP w/parchment, tint & spoiler. I previously owned a '98 Accord V6 Coupe (taffeta white w/parchment-colored interior -- yes, I never tire of white cars, this is my 7th one). I've owned several Hondas & did nothing more than change the oil & replace the brakes, and I put close to 70,000 miles on each one. When I compared to the BMW 3-series and Lexus IS-300, the choice was obvious. For the dependability, options, and price (not to mention absolute FUN of driving the TL-S), it was the only way to go!

My girlfriend put a deposit down on a WDP/P TL-S today. I wish we could have found a better deal, but she wasn't too interested in driving for 8 hours to get a car.

She liked the regular TL. I talked her into the TL-S because I thought the seats were better, the steering is better, and the wheels look better. She isn't a real driving enthusiast like I am. I think there may be a depreciation advantage to the S if she decides to buy it at the end of the lease.

Hey, I called several dealers in the DC area to get the best price at the time (which was at end of March/beginning of April) and then bought it from a friend from high school (Chad Dorfman) who works at Rosenthal Acura in Gaithersburg. You can probably get it for a better price now since I think it has come down a bit since then. Let me know if you need any more info.

You can count my wife as one of the TLS drivers out there. I only get to drive the car on the weekends.

My wife has been looking at the TL since 1999 when the new body style came out. I have to say that I was not as impressed with that car as I was my 1987 Legend. However, when we found out the S model was coming out, we reconsidered because of the better handling and extra power.

We considered Camry's, Accord's, Avalon's, and Passat's. We decided the Acura was the best bang for the buck. The S model was icing on the cake. My wife loves the car.

We have always been partial to Acura because our Legend has 210,000 miles and has never had any major problems.

My wife is the primary driver of our TL Type S. I bought a nice Explorer for her to drive around our kid (and me to haul stuff), but the SUV thing got old. She pressured me for a family car.

Being that we are both HP freaks (she used to drive a red 1993 Mustang GT), we had to have something with HP and was also very smooth on road trips. The SUV was not smooth by any means and I'll probably never, ever buy another.

The Type S won out over the A6 (too expensive) and the Maxima (too cheap feeling). She now drives it around town and I only get to drive it on rare weekends...rats!!!

I am 53 years old and own an Acura TL Type S. I replaced a 99 TL with the type S. I didn't really look seriously at any other cars because I had virtually no problems with my 99 and wanted another TL. The type S just makes it that much better. I picked it up at the end of March and have had no problems other than the recalls. I bought an Aegean Blue with nav. My husband and I just drove through the dealership tonight and they didn't have any Type S's on the lot. In fact, they had very few Acuras at all. Anyway, so far I love it. The seats took a little getting used to but everything else is fine - I can hardly tell it is running when I stop for stoplights. Hopefully, I will continue to have good luck with it. By the way, my husband and I have owned 4 Acuras and had great luck with each one!

The TL Type S is my wife’s. I have a 2000 Lexus ES. If the Type S would have been around in 2000 that's probably what I would have bought. In 2003-2004 I will look at the new Acura TL Type S, Lexus ES 300, Infinity I 35.
