How LOUD is CAI?
Just wondering how loud the CAI is for the TL-S. I am interested in CAI when the Rick Case Mod comes out but I hate the rice rocket sound. Does the CAI make the enginge sound ricey? My friend had a 98 Maxima and it made his car sound like a piece of s**t.

This has been brought up many, many times. Do a search. People have compared the Injen and AEM CAIs quite a bit. I heard it on a 99 TL and it didn't sound bad at all at idle or low speeds, and once he hit VTEC, it growled. Like you, I don't want the high pitched Civic sound (I know, I am comparing an inline 4 to a V6

Same boat, haven't decided yet. I went over to listen to someone's TLS who had just put comptech axle back exhaust and CAI, I was standing behind the car facing the exhaust, when he rev'd it my head snapped to the front of the car. I noticed the CAI more than the exhaust...

REMOVE YOUR RESONATOR FIRST.
It's easy to do in less than an hour. You'll hear approximately
what the CAI will sound like for free.
If you're like me, you'll like the sound and just stick with the stock
airbox without it.

The intake is very quite at idle through 5000 rpm but when you go above 5k the intake gets real deep and throaty like a camaro, no rice noise, .
In other words the intake is as loud as you apply the gas pedal
I would highly recommend a cai for a tls.

I can vouch for the low tone growling noise. My friend has an integra with the AEM CAI and let me tell you my WOT isnt nearly as loud as his. 4-cylinder cars usually emmit a higer pitch tone, so try using cars with 6-cylinders as better base for judgment. So far, for all the people that have riden in my car they agree that it's more of a muscle car noise than a ricey one.

I dunno I can actually hear my cai when I'm sitting at a light...it's sucking up air like mad!!! 
but I love it! As for the noise at WOT and at VTEC....ooh la la....my g/f asked me..."does it only sound like that when you floor it?"
my answer "yes..."
her reply "Cool!....floor it some more!!" hahaha

Believe it or not, my GF said the same thing when I floor it to VTEC and use SS. She likes it when I take full control of my car... hehee!!
