My 02 TL has the original battery (almost 4 years from the original sales date).

With a system and the UR pulleys, the battery died one time when I got pulled over by the police... the car was off and had the headlights and the hazards on. Getting the ticket and all that, after 10 minutes, the car would not start at all. So I went out and bought a Yellow Top the next day. This was at just before 40k miles, if I remember right. I think the battery is fine, it's just that it couldn't handle the load anymore.

I disagree, I think all Honda's batteries are very poor. For example, I know of someone on this board that had his radio on in the car while gassing up, (stock system) and after he was done tried to start it, and it wouldnt start!!

I've personally ran the radio in our car for maybe 20mts. w/ the car off and the car won't start due to the battery. I've had the same problem in my 99 Accord and same here. I do not have this problem in any of the other cars I own and they are older and neither does my friend who has a 99 GS. So I agree with the first poster that our batteries are poor.

My car is about 3 years old.

i got about 3.5 years out of mine (over 100k miles). Location (weather)and use play a big role on how long they last.

my battery lasted about 2 years. I bought it used and it died 2 months after buying the car after stopping by the gas station to pump gas. It was pathetic to have to jump a 2 year old luxury car. Got a Sears Die Hard battery. I have used them before on other cars and their warranties are the best out there.
My old taurus had its original factory battery for about 7 years. It still ran strong, but replaced it just as a precaution.

Last night after work I felt something that wasn;t right when I started the car, well today I went to the market and after that car won't start, the weird thing is that the radio, navi, lights all are working fine except the auto up/down from the power window, also I noticed a red light on the mirror (onstar) so I checked the manual and it says some type of malfunction with the car.
Thanks guys for the replys.

I've got a '94 Honda DelSol with the original battery. My TL will run the radio for a long time with the stock battery. I've detailed the car, (about 2 hours) with the XM running and had no problem starting the car when I finished waxing the car. Batteries seem to have a mind of their own when they fail.

Batterys typically last 3 to 6 years on average. There is no rime or reason to when they will fail. $50 to $80 buck for a good replacement battery about anywhere.

I drove my Accord home one day for 1 hour and 20 mins. with the alternator not working at all. So the battery if fully charged and in good shape will run the car for quite a while if you don't use the lights and other power robbing devices.

I've left maplights on in my car for two days before and my stock battery seems fine in my 02 TL with 50,100 miles. Although on one of the colder days I did notice a little struggle when I first got in in the morning, but that was weeks ago and it seems fine now.

man, to many variables, go to autozone or somewhere equivalent, let them test the battery, if its dead they'll tell you, if it can be recharged, they'll try to recharge it and test it again. $80 and you are on your way if you need a new one.

Mine lasted 4.5 years and 53,000 miles. I just replaced it with a Sears die hard since winter is coming up. It still started the car but when I had it tested (at two places) they both said it was on it's way out.

It depends on how often you drain it. If you accidentally leave your lights on and have to jump it a lot, it'll wear down the life of the battery. I just replaced the Sears Diehard battery in my other car and it lasted from 99 till now, but if I played the radio for 10 mins, the voltage would drop, and it'd have trouble starting.

The more you use the climate control, the shorter the life of the battery. The climate control system will keep the A/C on constantly in Auto mode, unless you turn it off manually. The A/C is a big drain on the battery, and will shorten the battery life considerably.

How is the AC a drain on the battery when its mechanical and driven by the belts that are powered by the engine
