Don't worry about it. Come back after a month, and try it. If it starts, then this was a pointless thread. If it doesn't start, make a new friend who has jumper cables in his or her car, and get a jump start.
Just like that, your car will be running.
Glad I could help you out.

After a full month it will most likely be dead or really low. Especially if its and original 00 battery

My original 2001 factory battery gave out a few months ago, and you will find that with the increased electrical demands of winter- your battery may need replacing soon.

SEE Radio code threads before disconnectiong battery.'

I would always advise that a slow charge from a battery charger be put into the battery rather than a surge charge from jumping, and full alternator output into a dead battery.

Well, If you havent changed your battery since 00, then yes it WILL die after a month. I have not changed the battery since 03 and left the car at home while I was staying at school for a month. The result: It wont even pop the trunk after a month
Since I had my jump starter cable in the trunk, I had to buy a new one to start my car..
Took it to the dealer, they changed the battery for me....

the oem battery will last roughly about 3 years. if you have an oem battery, it surely will die after a month.

Is your car still under warranty? I believe your battery is also covered under 4yrs/50k.

2001 purchased in october of 2000....original battery. Slooooow cranking in the cold.

Might be time for a preemptive battery swap before I get stranded in the middle of nowhere.

One thing to keep in mind also is that regular lead acid batteries won't survive very long after being discharged a few times. The sealed batteries (optima, stinger, odyssey) are supposed to be a lot better about this. I have an odyssey battery and was able to charge it back from it reading 4 volts and it has been running strong for about a year now since then. Lead acid batteries that are discharged down to a certain point usually can't be charged back up. A sealed battery is not a bad investment IMO especially if you live in sever weather and or have a big stereo system that could drain your battery.

Do you have any high current accessories like an audio setup or something? I started getting alot of buildup after I installed my amps. If you smear di-electric grease on the terminals that should help.

You dont need to buy any thing special. IF when you get home it needs some attention look into it then. If its dead when you get home, Either put a battery charger on it, or try getting a jump start and driving it for awhile to see if it charges and stays charged.

When your motor is running the acid in the battery is heating up (normal). The expanding gasses from this heated acid is being vented out of the battery, as it should to prevent the battery case from bulging or cracking. When the car is shut off some of that gas is still being vented for a short period. When the gas outside the battery cools down it condenses back to a non-gaseous state and will collect on the battery posts (being lead).

I used to glue a penny to the battery case near the posts so the acid would attract to it before the posts. ehh...work for a little while till the penny got knocked off by something.

THEN (and to this day) I clean the contact between the posts and the terminals and make the connections as normal and then take bearing grease (lithium will also work) and coat the each terminal till no metal is exposed. I've never had a bit of corrosion ever since on any car or any battery.
