how to get the best 0 to 60

I'm reading an article in Car & Driver explaining the methods and machines they use to test cars... after their horrible times for the tls i was interested in this... ok here is the dispute

street start is basically getting the car to launch from a rolling stop at 5 mph.. for some reason though the street starts are always .5 seconds slower on the 0 to 60 times... why?? shouldn't this 5-60 time be faster than the 0-60 from a standstill?

also, is that 6.2 - 6.4 time for the tls achieved through brake torquing? basically keeping the car in first and holding the accelerator to turn the wheels but also the left foot holds the brake to keep the car in place.. creating potential energy and spinning the tires and then launching the car by letting go of the brake.. is this the best way to launch the tls (i know ull prob do damage to brakes and tires)

is brake torquing the best way to launch a manual too? or do they pop the tranny in first, rev up to about 3000 (depending on car) and then engage the clutch to launch?

Ill let other worry about most of the questions... but one really obvious point... how could you "brake tourque" with a manual? Come on... one foot on the gas... one on the brake and one on the cluth?

For an auto, when you power brake or whatever you want to call it, you try to find the perfect spot where the pressure from your foot on the brake and your foot on the gas , when you let off the brake and put more pressure on the gas, your car will launch with just a tad of wheel spin. You don't want to sit there with your tires spinning hoping they will get traction; your time has already started. I would say 1,300 rpm or so would be a good place to power brake.
For a manual, there are a couple ways. One is to just use the clutch and gas. Depress the clutch, then let off slowly just to the point where it is almost ready to 'let go'. Press on the gas to your desired rpm, then slowly let off the clutch and press on the gas more. Once again, a little tire spin, but not much. Another way to do it with a manual is to 'heal-toe'. Depress the clutch as described in the previous manner. Then, with the toe of your right foot, press on the brake. With the heal of your right foot, press on the gas to your desired rpm. Start to slowly let out the clutch to that point where it's about to let go, then transfer the toe of your right foot from the brake to the gas pedal.

Put on some lighter rims and sticker tires frst... then Brake torque to 2000 rpm... slowly feather the go pedal.... and once roll floor it... Gate shift 1-2 and of course VSA off and AC is off..

Brake torque will just let you having a slower 0-60 time.
Why? : Brake torque = Wheel spinning (Obviously)

Wheel spinning = slower 0-60 time.

Remember when people in this forum alwasy say "If you get a good launch, youy will have better 0-60 time. It also means " Don't let the wheel spinning at launch"

Isn't that clear' clean enough?

actually

I think you will get slightly better time with a little wheel spin. I know that is the case with RWD.

Jack the front end of your car up so that the front wheels aren't making contact with the ground. Turn on your car and floor it.

I'm getting my friends G-Tech tomorrow to see what my times could be.

I raced a Yugo once in reverse. It started pulling on me at around 40 mph though.

ok guys..I don't know how to make better 0-60 times other than...When they say go, then that is exactly what you do...you GO!!!! I know that brake-torque trick or whatever you want to call it and it works...yeah, in pealing out as well...hahah have you guys ever seen a FWD car(stock) spin out and start fishtailing like a RWD car? Try that on your TL-S, give a a little brake, and little gas, and when that light turns green, STOMP on the gas and release the brake...OH MY GOD!!!That is some crazy shiet..I done this before...exactly that smart, but hell it was fun...ok just a suggestion but don't go out there and do this all the time now...hahahahaha have fun!:wow:

i think 0-60 times could be improved substantially by installing a supercharger, H/I/C sticky rubber and the windshield washers L.E.D.s on the hood. I am sure the suggestion by JPTLS21 will cut of a couple of seconds of your time, also. Happy motorin'
