How to fix water leaking from tail light into trunk 99 TL [pics]
Hey all! first of all I'd like to thank the community. It's my first time posting but I've benefited greatly from all the info in this forum.
I'm having a problem with water collecting in my trunk (under the spare tire area). Using the water hose trick that's mentioned around here, I figured out the point of entry but I am complete lost on how to fix it.
When I pour water near the left tail light, I can see water trickling down through area A (which really scares me because it's coming in contact with the electrical cables), but it doesn't actually enter my trunk until it reaches area B start to flow into the trunk.
What should I do to stop the leakage? I assume I may need to replace the gasket but I feel like I also need to get something to plug the hole in B. My right tail light has a plastic stopper in that location that plugs the hole, but somehow it is missing in the left side.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, makes good sense to plug that hole as there's evidence of a moisture trail originating from it. Do that first, then replace the taillight assembly mounting gasket. Easy enough !

Thanks 3.2TLc. I think I may have found the part I need to fix the gasket here:

I can't locate the part to plug the hole, any suggestion as to how I should go about it?

You could measure the diameter of the hole and then go to your local hardware or maybe even auto parts store for a replacement plug. If ya cant find the exact plastic one, a rubber one would work to seal that hole. Ya could pull the other side's plug and take it with you.
