How exactly do you pull that trim off the center console?

I have a creak under there that I want to get at. The dealer "could not replicate" it, so of course they did nothing (except that some tech got a free ride in my car). I'm just going to check myself.

Thing is I am mega nervous about messing with stuff on the console for fear that it will start rattling in the future, or I'll break some braket or something. Is it really as easy as just "pulling up and out from the top where the armrest is?"

Exactly how much force do I need to apply? How do I know that I'm doing it right?

And if I find the creak under there, what should I use? I imagine this "non-squeak tape" the dealer uses is like some sort of matte tape, like electrical tape or something. Or should I just douche it with WD-40?

Yep. If you want to take it out just get a philips and squeeze in beteen the trim piece and plastic. No forceful stregnth required just a little. Then follow it up towards the glass pull up just a bit and it will start coming loose as supposed to be. You can use your finger nails if you prefer.

Use silicone caulk on the contact points.

you wont have any squeaks from the trim pieces . and i wouldnt use a philips screw driver, mabe a flat head but not a philips. you shouldnt need one period. just open your arm rest and grab hold of what you can and pull up, as soon as it all starts coming up start to pull back as you pull up.
then remove the screws (dont forget the 2 that are under the little black carpet in the bottom of the center console
