how deep shock should sit in the fork ?

Yesterday I installed my H. Tech springs on my type S shocks. After putting the car down n driving for a while I see that the front sots much higher than the rear. Both F/R do not sit as advertized 1.5F 1.0R. I see that the rear has sunk much lower than 1 inch and the front has not gone the 1.5 as advertized, leaving 3 finger gaps in front and 1.5 finger gap in the rear. I was thinking may the front shocks have not gone deep enough in the forks. I guess there was 3-4 millimeters from the tip of the fork n the perch of the shock. I was standing by as my mechanic istalled it. He didnt really push it down. When he tighted up the 14mm bolt on the fork, it pulled the shock into place by itself. I was wondering if theres any room there to push the shock even lower ? I will post pics of the car soon.

The fork sits around the smaller portion of the bottom of the shock NOT around the bigger portion.

I had a similar problem when I installed some H&R OE Sport springs on a 02 TL.. THe rear was 1.5 finger gap and the front was 3 finger... Couldn't figure it out, so We just put the stock springs on the back and it looked fine.

any chance the front springs went on the rear?
has happend before on here!

there is a collar on the shock tube- it stops going into the fork there

I dont think so, we put the bigger diameter spiral coil in the back and the thinner ones infront. I'll check for the fork shock entrance but most probably i'll put stock springs back in the rear.

BTW how do u tell a bottomed out shock from a one with a finished top plate bushing ? My front passenger suspension makes a tok noise when going over bumps or potholes since my coil install.

A. Make sure the springs are on the right end.

B. Most shocks have a tab welded on to stop the shock from going to far or are tapered to limit how far. Make sure yours are to the tab.

Assuming you got all the suspension pieces in right...
Sway bar end links and bad front motor mount are leading causes of noise when going over bumps on these cars from my experience so far. If you haven't already replaced your sway bar end links with the Moog brand ones-front & rear-do so. Check your front motor mount for movement.

Well it only happens when my front passenger side wheels goes over a bump. So I dont think it is a mount. Either my shock couldnt handle h tech's little drop and the little shaking i gave to it after the install, hard cornering n heavy breaking. Or the tophat bushing is gone. Either way, im taking it back to the shop tommorow, check wuts wrong there, check for the shock fork clearance and possibly put back stock coils in the rear. Fuk my luck
