Question How to clean stereo surface?

Hello all,

Yesterday, I tried to clean up some dark sticky stuff
attached on the stereo (on the control buttons).
I used water but couldn't get those sticky stuff
off. Then I used rubbing alcohol, and it seems
to be too strong and the area I rubbed become
very glossy (but it was supposed to be a flat
finish.) Argh!!!

Just wondering if anyone has encountered the similar
situation and knows how to clean or restore it?

Any advise is very much appreciated.

Regards,

try the new armor all wipes...they work pretty well and make sure to get the cleaner wipes not the protectant wipes. i made that mistake and now everything looks wet and glossy. its actually kinda grown on me tho...

Hello bioyuki,

Is it true that Armor-All Cleaner Wipes will make
all the flat black finish around the NAVI screen frame
and stereo surface become glossy? Please advise,

Regards,

I, for one, think the plastic faceplate around the intsruments and controls is really really cheap, soft and disappointing. It scratches too easily and it just sucks compared to my 94 Legend. What amazes me most is that Acura has not improved it since '99.

Try using detailing spray such as Meguiar's Final Unspection - just a light mist will do - it will leave the surface clean, not shiny and oily, and also deter dust.

Also, frequent handwashing is a car interior best practice

Thanks for all the info. Actually when I rubbed
it with alcohol, some black stuff actually
came off from the matt black finish faceplate.
At first, I thought it was dust, then I guess I may
indeed wiped off some black finish.. Gee this is
getting complicated on my 3 days old car.

Does Acura spray the matt coat on instrument
faceplate?

A bit of water and a clean white towel to get rid of light stains. Swiffer cloth to get dust and lint off.
