How to? (AUDIO)

Alright first has anyone else had problems with the factory radios not playing burned cd's or cd's at all for that matter....first it happened to our 98 accord and now it's happening to our 99 3.2 Tl and it's frustrating....don't really wanna go the same route as the accord and throw an aftermarket radio in but it looks ghetto riding with a discman in the middle hooked up to a casette player....first is there anyway to make this thing work better or am i going to have to replace it?

Next how do i get the factory cd player out of the housing? I assume the "woodgrain" pops off with little tabs and then there are screws behind it on the dash but i have no idea....anyone care to tell?'

and lastly does anyone have any pictures of a simple aftermarket headunit in a tl? not gonna go dvd route just a nice simple headunit...

thanks in advance

It is a know problem in the 99 TL. What you can do is buy the 2002-2003 (I believe) stock radio which includes an in dash cd player and also plays burned cds. You just remove the one you have and pop in the newer one, still keep the stock look. Here is a link to remove the radio, http://abunchofcars.com/diy_pages/ot...er_console.htm

you can either try different brands of cds (works for some not for others) or replace it with either aftermarket or the 02-03 TL (has to be tl and not cl) factory indash 6 disk changer (a direct plug and play)

Well for me I use the Taiyo Yuden branded CD-R's, which has proven to be quite the success for me.....These CD-R's are a bit more expensive but are considered to be the best CD-R's out there and it works pretty well with my 2000 TL Stock Unit.....

Alot more work involved in that (running wires from trunk to dash and mounting it). Check around in the black market and ebay for the indash 6 disk player. Its alot easier to load since it in your dash, its oem so it matches the dash and plays cd-r's

did they make the 6 disc in dash for the 99 tl? i have never really paid any attention to the other years interiors so i have no clue if it's an exact fit or if it's going to require some other modifications....

No sir, the 6 disc in dash changer is only on the 02-03 models. It will fit the your TL fine, but will require taking out the stock deck. I highly recommend getting an IPOD with the blitzsafe adapter. I actually just installed the blitzsafe yesterday, and was pretty amazed that I was able to do it myself, seeing as I am not very mechanically inclined.

Here's a link to the thread that helped me out a lot https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/2-buick-gns-picking-viper-gts-video-132141/

When my car was in warranty i had it swap out twice and none of it made a difference playing cdrs. i eventually opted for an IPOD . I connected it to the back of the stock HeadUnit. now i'm as happy as a kid in a candy store
