How to??
How to??
stop the odometer?
I know I know.... bad bad bad
!!! And I only want to do it for like two days...
I'm up to 49,831 miles and I need to make an appt. this week for my rattle in the headliner & I don't want to go over.
I don't have a second vehicle to drive and I can't not go to work ... like I said I only want to do it for 2-3 days. Personally, I would never do it otherwise, because I even yell at my dad (he does it with his truck...) and I tell him it's not cool cuz whoever buys it after him is thinking they are getting a low mileage truck and are getting something with double the mileage. I know for damn sure I wouldn't want to ever buy a vehicle like that.
So anyhow, any help would be appreciated... flames, would not.
thanks.

It's digital dude...I'm sure I can find a way to hack into it and change it around...just never done it
I can poke around for ya though...
Or you could just get a rental car for 2 days ($50 bucks).

I can't afford a rental.... I'm 19 ... so they take on friggin 100+ dollar fees a day for being under 25

A lot don't even rent unless ur 21.. but in ny state they have to rent to you 18 and older.
The only one that charged a tolerable fee was Rent-a-Wreck... it was like 20 bucks a day surcharge... but that was a private RAW franchise out of a garage and they're outta business noew....
oh well
PM me austin if u find anything
Oh, Tommy...
None of the tricks you guys suggested will work, I can tell you that right now.
The odometer is controlled by the ECU, not the speedo unit, so disconnecting its fuse will do nothing to stop it (go ahead, try it).
Jacking the car up and reversing only works with very old mechanical odometers, not digital ones.
Just because the odo is digital doesn't mean you can hack it. The ECU stores the odometer reading in multiple locations. The values are checksummed, time stamped, encrypted or otherwise encoded and the ECU cross-checks everything. Unless you have the source code to the ECU I doubt you'll ever figure it out.
I'm afraid your only option now is to ask your dad or someone to rent a car for you, or make a deal with the dealership now to give you service beyond 50k.

Actually daverman you're wrong...
I pulled the fuse today (#9) 7.5 amp fuse....
disabled the gauges (speedo, tach, fuel, temp, oil.. and the door ajar/mileage panel went black.
Drove around for a few miles, came back, popped it back in... NO MILEAGE went up....
BUT:
For some reason the tranny "CLUNKS" into gear with the fuse out... i.e. when shifting into R or D5...
It didn't seem to shift above 3RD gear either.... that was the highest it went.
Also, now... the fricken Check Engine light is on and teh SRS light is on

i dont think you should pull the fuse cause the tranny and the ecu thinks your ihat dling and reving at the same time, timing gas mileage etc. gets messed up.....my friend did that to his car after 1 or 2 thousand miles but when he put the fuse back in the car was just wasted, runs like sh!t now.....

You'll be fine.
Make your appt & tell them you have 49,xxx miles now, but may run a few over by the time you get in. They're not going to give you a problem unless they are total a-holes. After all, the issue occurred and was reported to them while the car is still completely under warranty. It's not your fault they can't fit you in immediately, is it ?
If you have to ask this question, you shouldn't be doing it. I CAN be done and I have seen it done on many Acuras. I personally do not know how to do it and if I did would not share due to the potential for disatser and/or other effects. Good luck though

its a lot easier than u think to accomplish, a lot easier.
Tommy, try this...call up the Acura dealer and explain the situation. I'm sure if you call and let them know that your under 50k now and want to make the appointment for in a few days due to work, they can work something out. Hope this helps.

Just jack up the front and put the car in reverse and let it run for a while. That'll rollback the miles.

Make an appointment with your dealership with a complaint about the odometer. Make up some sh!t that it is scratched on the inside and you want it replaced under warranty. When they go to replace it they have to burn in the mileage on the new one and they are always off. My friend did this with his Audi and drove off with 3,452 miles less than what he took it in with.
