Really this could have an effect on acceleration. It puts a bigger load on the alternator and makes it more difficult to turn

I've actually heard you can lose up to 20hp per headlight that's on .. so I usually only run w/ one headlight at night... forget the fogs... 40hp combined loss when they're running!

I need NOS alone for my headlights.. don't even ASK me about the windshield wipers.. frankly, in torrential rains.. i just take my chances.. straightline performance is waaaaay more important to me...

Yes I do. There's this kid around my area that I see once in a while on the street. He owns a 330ci manual (I know this cuz he followed me into a gas station after I beat him and we talked). He was so surprised that my TL-S can beat him by a car length. Of course he's bone stock while I have the killer performance combo of H/I/E. We still see each other once in awhile on the street but he doesn't instigate anything with me anymore though.

axleback, you have a modded TLS so you should be faster. A stock TLS on the other hand might not fair as successfully as you.

Come on guys, you cant say the TLS can "OWN" the 330 in a straight line. You guys sound as bad as the bimmer guys

Cant we all admit that both cars are almost dead even. It all depends on the driver IMO. A TLS with I/H/E will slightly beat a 330ci 5-speed, but will never OWN it. Nugga please.

You guys should be proud as hell for having a FWD, large sedan and AUTO that can hang or beat most cars on the road. I respect that.

fwiw, by turning off all your accessories in the car, your alternator isn't stealing your hp. From 12 years of experiance in tweaking this and that for a few extra hp. I've always wired up a switch to cut the output from the alternator. Years ago it was as simple as that (when cars had carbs.) Todays cars I've learned by cutting out the alt. at wide open throttle doesn't help much......since the fuel pump and injectors like more then 12volts A little custom wiring and that problem is solved
coupe
PS for those that don't buy what i said...im sure there will be a few.... go put a set of jumper cables on your battery and jump start a car.......listen to your engine very carefully as you connect the last jumper cable. Now imagine if you have a system in the car pulling 70amps when its turned up, headlights on ect your doing the same as if you were jump starting someone..

I love free HP

So your TL-S that has about 300hp at the crank will only beat a 330i 5-spd by a carlength .. a car w/ 225hp at the crank? I'd say the 330 is doing a pretty darn good job of keeping up ..

No doubt man. Those 330ci are damn sweet! But I just like to see the look on their faces when a lowly Acura (relatively speaking) beats them. Even with all the performance mods, I'm still paying less than what he pays for the bimmer stock. I'm sure he'll own me in cornering though.

I like your style!! Good points made .. "most" bimmer owners I've encountered in Naperville, IL .. and the surrounding wealthy towns... have that "I'm driving a BMW ..get the hell outta-the-way" attitude... however.. you're right .. it's nice to be able to represent for Acura...

TL-S with SS will take the 330i auto easily

its the 330i stick that will probably take the TL-S down if you have the same skill level driver in both

hell i will even admit it. Most bmw owners get on my nerves and there are many out there who buy it for the name brand. I hate being on their forums somtimes, most dont know what they are talking about and only care about what others think.

Its sad and annoying.

thats why i still hang out with you acura guys

My hometown is the BMW capital. I swear to God you see a 3-series every 30 seconds, a 5-series and 7-series every minute. I've seen a lot of M3's and M5's.

80% of them just buy for the badge. And it's mostly the housewives nagging their husbands, "Honey, the next door neighbor just got a 7-series. I want a BMW, too." Of course, they can't afford a 7-series, so they get a 3xx.

When I bought my TL-S, I was also looking at BMW's and Audi's. I stayed away from BMW, because it will just be another Beamer, and it's too high maintenance, not to mention too expensive for what they have to offer.

I love their cars, but their market and the owners... geez.

I am so sick of the BMW haters in here. I swear, I haven't seen so many "smoked a 330" posts since I've been here ,they are just coming out of the woodwork. Isn't the whole owner thing stereotypical? There are probably just as many d ickhead TL owners out there as BMW, as well as any other car. There are so many *******s around these days, it's hard to find a car that isn't dominately driven by a s s holes Not saying anything about this post in general, just had to get that off my chest

yep...it's funny how much people here care abotu 0-6- too. When do you race from 0-160? No one realizes how much 0-60 is so gearing dependent that you would have to have so much more hp to have a significan'ty bettter 0-60. Also people here are so concerned with peak hp numbers. I hear very few people talk about trap speeds and tq curves. These will tell you so much more about the car than peak hp and 0-60.

Ray,

does this REALLY surprise you?? Clearly only about 30 to 40% (maybe even much less) of those participating in these automotive forums are less aware of the finer points of engine performance and how that translates to overall automobile performance (0-60, 1/4-mile, trap speeds, peak hp/tq, etc.). Rather, I think that each time someone posts q's about the 0-60 .. 1/4-mile... peak hp... and then subsequently when someone more savvy about the topic *informs* the newbie about the finer points .. everyone reading that topic LEARNS from the "educator".. and I think everyone's better for it.

That's why I like posts that argue, and i mean ARGUE technical differences b/w cars.. b/c SOOO much good info usually comes out of those threads (also a lot of flames at times and b.s.) .. and I think lurkers and participants alike learn from each other, despite their acknoledgement of the fact.

what are you thoughts on this Ray?

I hope we all recognize that the BMW/Acura vehicle didn't make the cocky owner cocky .. they were born & raised like that or taught to be that way ..

Therefore, I'll always admire and maybe one day own a BMW .. but the person driving it represents him(her)self .. therefore if I call a BMW owner cocky .. it's b/c of their actions, and NOT b/c I automatically assumed all Bimmer owners are cocky.

Hell .. have you seen some of the Mercedes owners pimp around in their sh*t? They can be notorious for being snooty .. even some older caddy owners.

I could never keep up w/ any corvette long enough to see if the owner was cocky!!

makes me think that maybe what is really happening is that the 330 gets smoked by the TLS. If everyone starts saying that the sky is blue, then maybe, just maybe it's because it is.

...and I thought I put miles on my TLS..., but you, <B>vandy786<B>, to go all the way to S.D. from your place to get beaten like that...

BMWs are the BEST cars ever built and their owners/drivers are not COCKY AT ALL. Heck, some of my best friends are BEEMER OWNERS too.

not sure I understand what position you are taking on this one...............I'm sure TL-S can beat a 330i once in a while, but every TL-S I have raced it has been real close, with me having the edge ever so slightly. They are very close in terms of acceleration......neither is a slouch by any means, so I can see how some would be "win some, lose some" depending on the launch the repective driver achieved.

Quick Reply: Hot chic in a TL-S vs. 330i!
