Honda ATF Jet Kit!
Honda ATF Jet Kit!
Well folks Im planning on install for My NO WARRANTY, NO BLUE BOLTS, STILL ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION!! The Honda ATF Jet Kit!
Basically when my tranny got toasted I was out of warranty by Mileage and Years so Instead of wasting 3K on an "Acura Remanufactured Transmission" just went for a Private Shop that Rebuilt Mine for 1.2K! So I dont have a newer Design or Updated Case and of Course I never had the Chance to own the warranty Installed Jet Kit Either!
So many many Years Later at Last my Jet Kit Install is Tomorrow! I didnt basically rushed this since I already have my AV6 Tranny waiting for my Current one to Die but found the Jet Kit on Ebay for 12 Bucks I said lets give it a Shot!

Ill Post Pics of Install when Possible!

Only advice I have on this is to have a rag handy when you pull the jet out to add fluid. A bit will drain all over if you're not ready with a shop towel or something. Other than that I think install should be easy.
Ok, a quick question. Sorry for the minor thread derail...
I've read on here about the 2nd gen tranny problems. My understanding is it is limited to only certain vin range.
Do I have it right? Is my 1999 TL affected by this tranny problem?
Ok sorry that was 2 questions. Thank you in advance for the responses.

the 99 with 4 speed is a safe trans
then the car went to 5 speed = and that was it for the 3rd gear clutchpack oiling!
early clutch disc wearout etc
NO vin is safe--the only reason for the vin list was a court ordered extended warranty-for some of us
it had no relation to an actual FIX!!
best thing you can do is keep up with fluid changes every year for the trans

Well Install went Smooth even with the fact that the Jet Kit I Purchased wasnt for our specific ATF Filter Housing!
Seems there is 2 Kits one for the 00-03 Tranny and one for the 04-xx Tranny the difference is that they have a different ATF Filter Housing where ours is a Male Fitting with 2 10mm Bolts, The Newer design uses a Banjo Bolt!
For 04-XX Trans use part No. 06250-RGD-316
For 00-03 Trans use part No. 06250-RGD-315 or 306
I got the one for the Banjo Bolt!

But since the Jet Kit (The Part that Replaces the ATF Bolt) Is the same for both Designs I just chopped the banjo Fitting and Re-Used the T-Tube supplied in the Kit and Given the Fact that I had an External ATF cooler the Installation was a breeze even easier that replacing the Filter Tube. The Grand Result:

Hahah I need to Power clean my Tranny... Well Hope You Guys Like It!!!

Well it Actually doesnt matter, I already have my Fix in case of trouble....
Even Still Honda installed the Jet Kit for a Reason and Mine didnt have it so 1 problem less.
Only if you have an Original Tranny without Jet Kit.
I got mine from this fella he already lowered the price even more, Only 8.50 shipped!

The only issue is, that isnt really the one you need thats for 04+ Models. But you can always do what I did.

Don't waste your money. It addresses a different problem altogether and won't help with the real issue. I bought my car with 60K miles with the jet kit already installed and my transmission still went out at 75K miles.
Luckily at the time I was still able to get the transmission covered under warranty.

just save up and do a 6MT swap... im saving up for that cause my tranny is about to go soon... original 99tl tranny with 192k on it... time to replace but cant complain cause it has given me a good run
I Actually have an AV6 Transmission waiting up for mine to die (read first post).
This was just becouse my current one Still Original Tranny didnt have the jet kit already by warranty.
And Save up for a 6MT? that like 2.5K this is only 9 bucks.
What is a AV6 tranny? I had my tranny rebuilt 800mi ago and still have 11,200mi to go under warranty but if I have an issue, I'd prefer getting this crap resolved so I can keep my TL since I've put plenty of work and sweat into it.
Accord V6 transmission. It's a 6 speed manual that several members here have swapped into their TL after the auto craps out on them.
Its said Accord V6 cuz Only the V6 Engine mated Transmission of the Accord fits. The Accord also has an I4 Engine with a trans that doesnt fit.
If any wants to refer to the Manual its just CL-S6...
The Accord 6-Speedo Manual isnt that much of an upgrade without LSD thats why if anyone wants a Manual Swap is CL-S6 ONLY...
Accord V6 Swaps are for the Automatic said to be less prone to fail.

I noticed the Denso replacement radiator I purchased for my 2000 TL has the AT Cooler in bottom tank, used on 1999 TL's and some other Honda's. Why did Acura stop using this traditional style radiator tank ATF cooler after the '99 model ??
Seems that an external cooler is the "safe" option.

I always thought it was the manual.
