holy crap!

ok.. I had to post this because it amazed me...

I just had my oil changed (For first time), put in fuel system cleaner, and installed exhaust last weekend. I havent pushed my car hard for awhile (couple weeks) now.

Last night was about 44 degress out, and I decided to gun it from a stop. I peeled out through ALL OF FIRST GEAR and into second! Damn! My freaking TL impressed the hell out of me. I'm so proud of my baby. I had to fight to kepp the car going in a straight line though.. lots of torque last night

Prior to this, i would peel out slightly into first, and very occasionally a chirp into second. Wow, last night really blew that away.

I'm thinking its a combination of all the stuff thats been recently done to the car, and that I just passed the 5000 mile mark (currently at 5900) recently.

ok, long meaningless post, but I had to share my amazement.

ps. the comptech exhaust DOES make a difference.

I'm sure the CAI and 44 degrees didn't hurt either

First oil change you say?? hmmm..

That's a nice feeling though.. glad you're enjoying your car.

dont burst my bubble... i know the tires suck, but they should have at least a little bit of grip considering they have less than 6k miles on them...

I need ZRs bad though.. unfortunately, tires and wheels are last on my list of planned mods...

Also keep in mind that the colrder the temp, the less grip your tires will have.

I was talking to a race car buddy of mine who deals with Linginfelter Engineering, the well known Corvette tuner in Indiana. We were talking about this very subject and he said for every ten degrees colder it gets the engine will produce 1% more power. He said since engines are rated at 70 ( might be 80) degrees that means if it is 20 out and we use 80 as a basis we've got 6 times 1% or with a TL-P 225 plus 6% times 225 = 13.5 free horses. So if you feel it after warmup you're right. I guess a TL-S would be 260 plus 6% of 260 = 15.6 extra horses. If it is 110 this summer somewhere that would be a 3% loss. Again I am just passing along what I learned from him as I am sure there will be other opinions. Road Rage? Daverman? Thanks.

Hey, I'm the last person to treat my car like a porcelain doll- my car is my b!tch, and I ride it like one. But there's a difference between riding hard and riding stupid. And gunning it in first gear is just plain stupid.
