HKS exhuast..

I am planning on getting HKS dragger exhaust...
I don't have the rear skirt and not planning on getting one,Do i still have to extend it ??..
ppl said that the sound will be gone after 2500rpm....so will it sound loud when i am driving at 70mile at 5th gear??..
and how easy is it to put the exhaust on myself?..

thank you

y do u have to extend it??? i guess it all depends on what kind of look u want.

70 mph in 5th is about 1900-2000 rpm. you'll hear a little rumble but if u turn the radio on, u can barely hear it. i think the exhaust is a little too quiet. its just bolt on axle-back so u can do it yourself.

The draggers are supposedly quieter than the Comptechs. IF you want them louder, remove the silence resonator.

That, myself, I am not sure...I've read some people on the CL board have done it. It might affect smog a big, but other than that I can't see it doing anything harmful to the car. Also you can put it back. Someone with the Comptechs said they took theirs off and it was loud annoying...cool for awhile, but it gets too loud and obnoxious. Someone else with the Dragers said they did it and it was perfect...sound throughout the band.

I want to remove mine, but I've never done it...so I can't say what's involved. People have said they done it themselves with no problems. Here's the thing with the loudness issue. The HKS was measured at 80 something decipals. It just has a low deep bassy sound while the Comptech has a little extra tweet to it that makes sound louder....I think it's registered at the bare legal limit of exhaust sounds at like 90 something decibals.

I don't recall anything about ever having to cut anything...I heard it's something removalable...

No, I've also been told by my mechanic that it has to be cut out. After it's cut out, it has to be replaced by a length of piping to cover the gap. Makes sense, doesn't it?
