Sorry to hear about that man.
that suks.
Depending on how badly the damage is. I'd rather deal with it myself instead of insurance. They take forever to estimate and fix the damage and also alot of headache from them as well.
Good lucj!

Don't even report it to your insurance. Get a used light, and try to polish out the scratches. Even if they are deep enough, you could use touch up paint. Everything will cost you $100 tops (+ a lot of elbow grease).

Good luck

call your insurance company and lower your deductible to $50, next month (just to it's not too obvious) tell them about the damage and have them fix it. Raise it back to $500 the month after. If the premium increase for the month at $50 isn't too bad, it may be cheaper for ya.

Since it wasn't your fault, the insurance company shouldn't hold it against you to raise your rates.

Guy at work did that when his car got keyed the whole way around.

Uh Hello, major insurance fraud there. That's one of the main reasons why insurance is so high to begin with. I would HIGHLY not suggest this route, getting caught for insurance fraud would be very expensive.

That was the stupidest thing I have ever heard. :flamer:

Just pay for it out of pocket. Don't go through insurance unless it is necessary. Your insurance will go up and your resale value with go down.

I hear you man, I had a truck hit and run couple of months ago. I had my car parked and the truck took out 02' Type lights and bad damage to my bumper. No1 got the license so damn that sucked for me. The whole repair cost was like 542 and I had to pay 500 out of pocket just like you, so I didn't bother with insurance.

Yeah they won't raise your rates since it was parked. Unless you have a totally jack ass company.

I got a hit and run yesterday while my TL was parked in my apartment's parking lot. IMO the damage was not caused by other car hitting it... . the damage was on the left side fender right behind the wheel well and before the door hinge. (too bad i can't post any pics). no damage to the door though. Now, i can't fully open my door.
