Hit a Parked car

Hey folks, I'm just up here today to blow some steam... I'm at work today, and I work around only females... I'm the only guy. They all wanted coffee so I decided to go to the Brew Ha HA and on my way out a guy walks up to me and before I get to my car he says, "Excuse me sir, Is this your car??" I replied. "Yes" he says " My uh partner just hit your car" all i could think was Oh Boy! Looked on the passenger side and my mouth dropped. it wasnt a scratch, or dent, my whole left Piece of the bumper (knowing our bumpers are one piece) was hanging off!!! it looked like some ghetto ass Aerodynamic freakin Side wing, This thing Pertrudes out about a foot. and its still hanging on, but it's out there, Should I get a rental?? Do you all not think it's that serious?? what should I do. the claim has already been filed. but I'm clueless on what I should be doing, on top of that, I dont wana drive that thing now.. IT looks like shit! I'm not mad at the guy cause he stuck around to write a note, he didnt just drive off, I'm thankful for that, but I'm still mad. I've just been having a bad day

Go get an estimate, his insurance company should pay for your rental, and get your whip fixed. Do not take the car back until you are absolutely satisfied with the work that has been done.

Damn...sorry to hear that bro. I know you're at work now, but when you get a chance post up some pics. I'd be glad the guy didn't drive off too...that would really have sucked. let us know what happens.

the fact he didn't just leave should make your day. he's a decent guy...or his partner is, whatever...

it's gonna be covered...and your're gonna get a new bumper with a fresh paint job on that.

Atleast he was a honest and decent guy. I woud go getestimates if you havent already, then i would zip tie the bumper or duct tape it up till you can get it into a shop to fix it.

Sorry to hear but like other say, the person didn't drive off, many would. Is he willing to compensate you for the damages or anything? Last time someone hit my bumper, the person pay for the damages out of his own pocket and i didn't have to deal with insurance.

It's good to hear he wasn't going to speed off after hitting you. That's what happened to my parent's car in their driveway this weekend. Stupid neighbors had a party going and I think one of their guest hit them.

As for your rental, if their insurance is already accepting liability then you get a rental once your car goes to the shop. They will most likely set you up with there direct bill rental company. If you have their adjusters name, call them up and they will setup the rental.

I just went through this with my car. Car got rear-ended. If you have any questions you can PM.

Sorry I did'nt add in one detail. The vehicle was a BIG BUDWEISER Truck and there were two employees in it. So that may have been one reason why they stopped, BUT I looked at the truck and There was NO Physical damage to it at all, The bumper on the truck was Steel too.

Then you are definitely covered. You can be sure a big corporation like that will cover whatever damages their drivers do. You shouldn't have anything to worry about as long as you got all their info.

Well, I'm not too much of a fan of beer. Only beer I have a taste for is Yuenling and I wont drink that too much.

I've gotta drive home and its gonna be so embarrasing, plus i dunno if it'd be easier to hit a car or a person cause it sticks out so much.????

That's cool. Just tell 'em my address to ship the beer to.

Sorry to hear about the misfortune, but shit happens to the best of us. At least the guy stuck around to let you know. Last time somebody hit my car, the beotch took off and I had to track her down with the police. We got her, though.

Don't be embarrassed about the damage. Like I said, shit happens. It's not like people are going to point at you and laugh. "Oh, my God! Look at that dumbass in the TL with the broken bumper. What a loser!" Nah...

Just duct tape it on there for now and take it to a shop soon. It shouldn't take more than 2-3 days to get a new bumper on.

Good luck.

I feel your pain. One of my dumbass neighbors in my apartment complex hit my parked car Sunday night and left a note. I left a voicemail, but haven't got a response from him or his insurance company. Gouged the bumper cover, headlight assembly, and scratched the fender paint down to the metal.

Its a really CHILLING feeling knowing your car was straight, then when you walk outside, it looks like that... . I got a little scared, then upset, then I just let it go, cause it will be fixed in a matter of days.

Hey you guys, this happened, wednesday, and I called the adjuster from Liberty Mutual, the other guys insurance company... I called them twice yesterday and today, they said they'll send out an appraiser, and that someone would contact me within the next 24 hrs, but no one has. am I rushing?? do i need to just chill? is there something I can do to expedite this? what am I doing or not doing right.

It's a holiday weekend, so they may be short on adjusters. Give them till Monday.

it amazes me how people hit parked vehicles. I mean, it's there, you can see it and it's not moving.. you might as well just hit a tree or something. I'm terrified to park in my school parking lot because of that. Some girl drove OVER the front end of a small car with her pickup truck pulling out of her space... yikes. I park in the very back of the lot now with the other nicer cars

/endminirant

i hope all worked out with your car, it looks like the damage is purely asthetic

It's not really that amazing....it's just a matter of not paying (enough) attention.

Sorry about your luck, VITEK. It's good to hear the guy was honest about the whole situation and you didn't end up having to chase him down or anything. Hopefully your car will be back to normal soon.

I waited about 24 hours between phone calls. I finally got contacted this morning by the other guy and the insurance company and they sent an adjuster out this afternoon. It just goes at the speed the insurance company feels like going at.
