2010

total spent: $3715

what was done:

custom interior color conversion (still in progress)

ebay rear lip (bring to body shop to make cut outs for quad tips)
Inspire Conversion
Custom exhaust with quad tips
convert SRI to CAI
new rear bumper
finish custom interior
get car detailed
bring headlights to AckTL05 so he can work his magic

theres probly more but this much seems realistic. its so sad that i spent more on repairs than i did on mods

if im not mistaken, fsttyms1 is on the same motor. i plan to run my TL till it dies as well. i hope i make it even half way to 400K. its really amazing that you kept it running so long. did you run into any expensive repairs (besides tranny of course)? it seems like every time i save up enough money to buy some real modifications, something goes wrong with my car.

105k wow i only got like 40k on mine and it the car doesnt feel smooth as before and ill consider myself lucky if i hit 60k. also i don't believe in modding cars lol i rather keep the money and lease new ones with it (unless its like a hondata reflash or something simple and cheap). had a friend who ended up spending 20k on his celica pretty extreme if you ask me. but in your case you didnt spend much and you got a lot of mods for your $$$. so congrats.

couldnt resist the urge to mod yesterday...

i got a couple extension pieces and converted the SRI into a CAI. i honestly dont like it. its more quiet than what im used to. i feel like i lost some high end response too. however low end power feels like it has improved. notice i said "feels like" because its not fact, just opinions.

ok no more modding dammit!

okay i totally fail at keeping my money in my wallet

i purchased eibach pro kit springs from the BM today. i couldnt pass up such a good deal.

now i have a couple questions.

1. for those who got their springs installed by a shop, how much did you pay?

2. i believe my shocks are original so they have around 106k on them now. ive read that shocks last around 50k miles. obviously that doesnt make sense. we had an 01 Sienna that had over 200k miles on stock shocks. do they wear out after a certain time like the timing belt does? should i replace my shocks when i install the springs? they feel fine now. i did the "bounce" test. how else can i check if the shocks are healthy?

Putting in springs by a shop should cost in the range of $150 (very cheap, 95% of mechanics will not give you that price) -$225, $250 average prices.

Do you hear cracking noises from the struts or front susp at all, if not then they are fine. I would save up and replace at least the front struts to tokico blue. You will end up doing so either way in less than a year or so.

thanks dykyy for responding. i thought this thread had died.

i think im going to have to wait on the drop and save up for some shocks and the install. i would do it myself and i know its an easy install but...
1. i dont have the proper tools (metric tool set, jack stands, etc)
2. i dont trust myself with such a critical part of the car haha.
3. i dont have the time.

do you think theyd lower the cost of install if i took out the back seats myself? i wish i could just use somebodys shop...

or if anyone is in the ny/long island area that has some free time... i have beer

500th POST!

so here are some pics as promised a while ago... enjoy.

my plan is to debadge the ACURA and replace the 3G emblem with a 2G. its just too big for our 2Gs and looks out of place.

Seafoam FTW

there is a reason the shift plate isnt painted SSM too. i couldnt get the knob off ill keep trying.

Excuse the dirty ass floor mats. Fall weather is taking its toll.

CAI

little bonus for you guys:

Beach photoshoot from the summer. got some girls to pose for me and a couple buddies. dw they were over 18...

that Charger is putting down close to 500 at the wheels. its always hilarious racing against him in my car

Our new addition to the family. i love it so far (even though theres no turbo ).

COMING SOON:
Eibach Pro Kit
Tokico shocks.
