Do TL's come with HID xenons? If not what kind of bulb do they accept (ie: 9006)? Thanks.

 

The 99 and on TL's come with a HID system standard. But the bulb in the inside I believe, for the low beam/high beam is a 9006 in Canada. It's a 9005 in the US, cause they don't have DRL.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It doesn't have info like that in the owners manual... it just says to have the dealer replace the lower beam light bulb when it burns out.

I think those # represent diff. types of halogen bulbs.
The HID bulbs on the TL are the "D2R".
There're basically two types of HID bulbs:
--"D2S" bulb: for the projector-type headlights (bimmer 3,5,7 series, Audi A/S4,6,8 etc...)
--"D2R" bulb: for the reflector-type headlights (Acura CL,TL,RL, Mercerdes C,E,S-class, Lexus IS,GS,LS etc...)

I've noticed that the AUDI and BMW HID's seem to look a lot nicer. Is there anyway we can put those bulbs in our TL's? So what exactly is the difference between projector and reflector?

Where did you get you mods on your TL done? Installs and purchasing. I'm thinking of taking it to Garage Five or Boom Plus Toys to do it but do you have any recomendations.

Projector lights are like the ones on Intgera's(but with HID's)

Personally I like ours better. Cleaner pattern. I just wish the TL's were like the CL's HID's and not in that sealed headlight unit. The CL's look alot cleaner and not blurry.

Well... yea... the CL's lights look better from outside the car.

BUT... from inside the car... the TL's cast a much brighter... and better light pattern.

I've owned both cars as you know... and one of the few things I miss from the TL is the lighting... it was perfect.

The ball and chain and I test drove an I30 a couple weeks back at night... talk about a SHITTY light pattern... oh my lord... it was terrible.

you are right, the bmw, lexus and mb lights are brighter and better xeon lights. the reasons is the acura ones are using less xeon gas than the bimmer type. the arura one cost 1/4 that of bimmers too. if you were to go to ebay and do a search for xeons, you'll find generic ones that cost around $150. i believe this is why arura never comes out and says these are true xeons lights,instead they say "hid" lights. the bimmer type xeons also self adjusted. so there are diffident differences.hope this helps

Mafioso is right, the Audi's have the best looking hids. At every which angle you look at it, it's different colors, from yellow,blue,white,red,green,purple, man you name it. So whose got the answers?
