HIDextra headlights

Are all HIDextra headlight kits low beam headlights since they're powered by a ballast? I'm confused because when I looked up HIDextra kits for a 2001 Acura TL, there are only high beams available. There's and "N/A" under low beams.

If its just your bulbs that are bad all you need are the D2r/s bulbs

If you're ballasts are working fine, is there any benefit to getting new ones from hidextra? And is there anything you need to do to use the higher wattage ones? What's the difference between the different series, I don't see an explanation anywhere on the site.

I kind of had a similar question about these. One of my lowbeams is REALLY bright and I love it! One of my ballasts died and i switched it for another used one, but the light doesn't match my other light. Even if the ballast is used does it still need burn time, or is it a dying ballast?

Hey DanTL-S, were your low beam bulbs both replaced at the same time ?
If they were, try swapping the dimmer side's bulb to the opposite side.

I need to try that, it's a little hard finding the time with work, school, and a baby. (school is 1 hour away). Know of the brand of the bulb has anything to do with it? (They're the same wattage)

The generic bulbs are not as consistent in quality as the major brands such as Phillips or GE.
Be careful of cheap knock-offs ! The important thing is to always replace both of the bulbs as
a matched pair at the same time. That way their intensity along with lifespan will be similar.

Yeah i actually looked at my bulbs, one is phillips and the other is some weird brand...OXy something, odd name. So the brand also has to do with their brightness?

So, which one of them is the brightest ?
It's recommended to match them ! Better than replacing ballasts for resolving this issue.

There is no benefit in changing the ballasts if there isnt anything wrong with them. In order to run the higher wattage bulbs you need the ballasts to go with them. Our stock ballasts are only 35w.

HIDExtra Ballast Choices and Explanation

We have received a lot of customer questions asking about the difference between our ballast, so we decided to provide a post to better explain what the key differences are so you can make the proper choice.

Signature Series (35w): Standard size ballast with 35wattage going to the HID bulb.

Power Series (55w): Provides 20% more wattage to the HID bulb which provide 30-40% more brightness comparing with the 35w HID kit.

Stealth Series (35w): Slim ballast which is about half the size of a regular ballast and it is also 35w, frequently used for installation on vehicle that is more compact in the engine area for easier installation

Volt Series (35w): Our top of line HID ballast with the most advance built in component that will eliminate any issue a vehicle's computer system have with aftermarket HID. And the Canbus ballast also produces the light output (lumens) almost equivalent to 55w while only using 35w and the quality of the ballast is equivalent to OEM ballast. A very high quality HID Kit recommend for all year, make, and model vehicle.

Great vendor info. I love being informed about my car especially considering I know people who can't change a flat!

Thanks for the info hid extra, I'm planning on switching to the 55 watt kit for my low and high beams later on. I would like them to be brighter. Do you have any pictures of the 55watt kit compared to 35 watt kit, light output is what I mean?

Hello Stephen00TL,

Thank you for your interest in our HID Products! Unfortunately we don't have the picture of the comparison of 35w & 55w right now. But we will surely work on that!

We would like to assure you since with more power and wattage..comes more output!
