All you need are bulbs since our cars come stock with the HID ballasts. I suggest 6000k upgrade..check out this site http://www.hid-online.com/hidonline/...D2R_6000k.htm. Happy modding.

Umm...guys he said he wants his light to be bright. If you want that then dont go with 6000K HID Bulbs, as this will defeat your purspose. The higher in 'K' temp you go, you lose usable light on the road. Stick with the 4300K that you get with the car, that is the best light out put you can get out of those head lights.

6000K is just for looks, (you get that bluish hue that u get with BMW's and Lexus's) but you lose some usable light on the road, not that much. But when I did the conversion to 6000K I also upgraded my fogs to matching 6000K's and this MORE THAN MADE UP for the lost light. I now light up my lane and the two paths of the two cars traveling besides me. Hehehe. Its great, once i put my HID fogs on, I can just feel the stress in my eyes being relieved due to more light. Its f'n amazing.

Exactly! But nothing beats the look of 6000K!

Or just get rid of your HIDs and put those halogens back on.

It is not brighter! All standard HIDs are 4300K.

It looks brighter because it is a projector headlight where ours is not.

They are projectors, but I dont know if they are bi-xenon. Just upgrade ur fogs to HID and ur problem about which one is brighter will be solved. Hehehe!

i think it's the difference between d2r and d2s..the german cars have d2s's which is slightly brighter whereas our tls have d2r's

Seems that the BMW projectors put out light that is more concentrated and more towards the middle front of the car thus it seems brighter while the TL is spread apart alot more.

To solve this problem, just go out and buy the new TL (which comes with projectors). I saw one the other day at night and you really can't tell if it's a BMW or Audi. Only when it came near me that I noticed it was the new TL.

I want to get the fog upgrade. It seems like a worthy investment.

having a 00 TL, im better off stayin w/ my stock HID's as far as visibility is concerned than upgrading to 6000k. but if i wanted to sacrifice some visibility for aesthetic purposes, then the upgrade would be a good idea? yeah i dont have any foglights either

Just to be clear, our ballast will still work if we went to 6000k, just need the bulbs??

How high will it work?

the kelvin rating is independent of the ballast, so yes an 8000k bulb should work with the stock ballast. However, some people change the ballast (read: higher wattage) to compensate for the dimness of the 8000k bulb.
