HID problem

Aight I've been having a problem with my hids i began to notice a few things...

1) When you leave the headlights on and turn the car off when you lock them they turn off after a delay like normal but when you unlock the car and the hids are supposed to turn on, one flickers as if it wont go on for a second then it turns on....

Also after flickering the bulb will appear to be more purple when warming up then turns to the normal whiteish color as compared to the other one which appears bluish during warm up then turns to the normal whiteish....

I plan on upgrading to 8000k bulbs so i was just curious do you think it is just a bad bulb that is on its way out, or do you think its a problem with another part of the sysem such a the ignitor or ballast. I dont wanna buy the bulbs only to notice the same problem i'll just get a conversion kit rather than having to deal with buying new parts from the dealership

sorry bout the long post thanks for the help

Try switching the bulbs and see if the problem follows the bulb or not. Remember, NEVER turn on your HID lights without the bulb attached to the ignitor/ballast.

find out if its the bulb, but when HID lights flicker, its usually a sign of the ballast - which is expensive to fix. good luck and hope it's just the bulb or seomthing.

it could be a bulb problem....BUT.....if i leave my headlights on, and it locks and shuts off after the delay....and i RE-lock the doors making them flash, one of the headlights flicker.....i tend to NOT use the "walk me home" lights....i only use the HIDs when the car's running just for that matter.....

i'm guessin the way they are giving the command to flash, something not....working right....dunno....

i think it might be a sign of a ballast taht is about to go out. minez did the same thing and now its blown. but it was from condensation from my headlight that got to the ballast. i was wondering if the 2004 TL HID unit will work on our cars? our HID system uses 12 volts and does the 2004 still use the same amount?
