Wow, that was a really good write-up! I wonder if the beam pattern of a 6000k D2R is closer to stock than the 6000k D2S?!

if you use D2S bulbs of any temp in your housings, the light will scatter since a reflector housing has no cuttoff. The D2R bulbs have a pianted on cuttoff that gives you a beam pattern. So to answer your question the D2S 6000k bulbs won't look like the stock beam pattern.

Not the brightest light .... the most usable light

and the kelvin rating is only the color temp or the light.

Do u remember when those blue bulbs were the hype...they looked alot brighter.... but in reality they sucked for driving because the color of that light did not effectivly illuminate the road.

Lemme give u another example....if u shine a red led on a red piece of paper..... and a white or blu on a red piece of paper which one would seem brighter ?

ah i guess the questions are pretty much answered already. basically if you look at a 6000k light source directly yes it LOOKS a lot brighter, but the usable light on the road surface is actually less. i can see it from my tls and gs400, but it's still very acceptable. i have been in a car with 8000k and man, i almost couldn't see the bumps ahead

oh and yeah, the beam pattern is also determined by the housing reflection, so theoretically having d2s in our car would have some light going at some weird direction. but in reality, i havent' seen any.
