Exclamation HID issues....

Ok I got a 99TL.

One HID not working. When I turn the light switch on i hear a slight rattle. It went out but not sure if ballast or bulb? Which could be more likely?

The bulb went out then it worked first had to switch on and off a couple times to make it work. But now no luck just the rattle when i turn the light switch for the HID driving light.

Just in case this is not for the fogs sine i have none.

History- HID bulb 6000K phillips about 4 yrs old one ballast original the other also 4 yrs old but forgot which side is newer damn it.

Anywhere close to queens NY that i can buy ballast or lights and get a deal. Appreciate it
Thanks

Usually its the ballast that goes out first.

I have a similar problem but no rattle. After searching it seems the best thing to do is switch the bulbs from one side to the other. If the same side still goes out then its not the bulb....I tried to do this but its cold outside and a pain in the ass getting to the bulb and pulling it out Im having a shop install my brakes next week so Im just going to ask them to do it.

try swapping out the bulbs from side to size, if the brunt out bulb is on the pass side, and u swap the bulbs, the drivers side should not turn on and the pass side will be on, tells u its the bulb. if the pass side is still out, change the inverter and ballast out the same way u didnt the bulb. will narrow down the problem and u dont have to waste more money on what u think is out when its good.

If you want to stay in safe and reduce the amount of work, when you replace your light, change the whole set up. (bulbs and ballast at the same time even one of them are still in a good working condition.)

When the light from the bulbs turns pink, that's probably bulb, not ballast, correct?

you're correct. As long as bulbs turn on, ballast are straight.
