HID help

Can someone tell me step by step how to replace the HID bulbs. Only because im a little skeptical about how the outside of the HID casing says,"WARNING, HIGH VOLTAGE DO NOT TOUCH."

The ballast you're talking about should just clip off the ignitor. If you are really that worried disconnect the battery. But there is a special tool (forgot what) you need to open up the cap to get to the HID bulb, my friend just used a dremel and made the screw into a flathead accessible screw.

buy a torx screw with the hole in the middle, then unscrew that black thing, it won't be no high voltage if it's turned off. unplug the ignitor by twisting then pulling, pinch the clip together and you should have access to the bulbs.

Dont use lights for several hours before change to ensure you residual current lurking inside
Make sure you know the radio and nav security codes- they will need to be reset!

The Torx 20 security bit is needed to remove the big back cover- walmart has single screwdriver tool or any torx bit set will have it

Inside - the clip holding the bulb in, is hinged at the top- the spring clip is 1 sided (on my 01 and the ebay housings that replaced them) you push in the clip from the right side to left- fine tip needle nose pliers help here, and then after its free of the lock position you keep pulling up and to the right to get it off

Make very certain the bulbs are handled with care
There is an external electric wire with a protective insulator cover- dont F that up~
and make sure to wipe the bulb with rubbing alcohol if it was touched by human hands- do it to be safe anyway
Wear rubber/latex gloves when dealing with bulbs
The oil in your fingers kills the bulbs
Make sure to note bulb position via the electrode, and pull straight out and put new one straight in
The D2R are matched fit
The D2S do not lock in place- careful!!

Thanks, it was very easy. My stock lights were faint blue with a pinkish hew. The lights from the M45 are solid blue. They look good.

Cool, yeah when bulbs start to turn pink it's a sign that they are going to die soon.

Wow, it's been pink for a year? You've got a fighter on your hands!

Dunno why you'd want pink HIDs though...
