HID Foglights

I am trying to find something that would match my HID headlights for fogs. Bulbs just don't do it b/c they just look completely different compared to the HID. Any suggestions?

But what do I look for or buy? Conversion kits, replacement bulbs? I don't quite understand the whole HID deal, just that it looks 100x better than the pathetic bulbs that are in there now.

Yeah... its very hard to match the color of HIDs with halogen bubls. Cheap suggestion.. have you tried the bubls made by Eaglites? They seem to be the choice of bubls on this board and I've seen them in person and they match the stock HID lights fairly well.

I did the whole 6000K front end conversion, so I have real HID's in my fog lights. This is the best way to go in my opinion as even if you buy the bubls, their life expectancy isn't that great, and you keep having to buy bubls, which can add up. If you aren't looking to go 6000K , then this conversion will be realitive cheap I suppose.

You can buy a used kit on ebay for about $250-300 (Phillips brand ballasts and bulbs) and then you can put them in your fogs. This will match your headlights perfectly and you're set for life. If you want to do the 6000K conversion, then the cost will be a bit more. The Kit will cost you $350-400 and then you would have to buy an extra pair of bubls for your headlights which will be an extra $200.

Yes I know this is more expensive but if you desire changing the light pattern to that of the Audi's and BMW's then you do 6000K. Totaly your call.

I suggest you do your research on this topic since you dont know too much and it cost a lot of money. You can do great research using the site by using the search feature on this site. Many people have done this conversion so its been discussed many times in the past.

Our stock Headlight bulbs are D2R and our stock foglight bulbs are 9006. So If you want to just buy a HID kit to match your current HID system, then all you need is a 4300K 9006 HID conversion kit.

4300K and 6000K refer to the light output in temperature scale. 4300K is close to white light and 6000K is more close to white light with a purple hue, similar to BMW's and Audi. Don't be fooled, BMW's and Audi's use 4300K HID system but achieve that purple look by playing with optics in hte headlight housings. They use what is called projectors and achieve that cool purple look. The more you go up in K for the less light on the road. They range from 4300K - 10000K i believe. Dont go more than 6000K cuz the amount of light you'll get is just plain useless!! Stick with 4300K or 6000K.

I found a used 9006 4300K set on ebay here you go: Philips HID Kit 9006 on ebay

This is all you'll need to do the conversion, and the installation is pretty straight forward. I believe the Acura Inspired site has a good write up on how to the install yourself. Now if you want to do a 6000K conversion, just search ebay for a 9006 6000K Philips HID and you should pull up a listings.

Hey Raj,
I've been having problems with the HID's in my fogs and was wondering if you had the same problem. I would always have one side go out on me only after a few weeks. After a lot of trouble shooting, I found that it was always a problem with the wiring harness. The 25amp fuse in the harness never went bad and when I switched ballasts and bulbs, everything else still worked.
Now, I noticed that the stock fuse for our fogs is only 20amp. Could this be the problem? Do you think I can put a 20amp fuse in the wiring harnesses for the fogs or should I try to find a 30amp fuse to replace the 20amp in the fusebox?
