HID Ballast/System Problem

I have '02 TL-S and over the past 6 months I've been experiencing a problem with the drivers side headlight.
About 1-2 times every few weeks the headlight on the drivers side will not turn on or will turn off while driving. Most of the time I just turn the headlight switch off, wait 10 seconds and turn it back on and the headlight will work again.
From what I have read this is a problem with the ballast showing some wear or electrical board is corroding. I was looking to buy a brand new one and take the bumper off to replace it but a new one is about $300 bucks. That's a lot of money.
Should I just throw $300 bucks and buy one or does anyone have some suggestions?

swap them around first and see if the problem stays in the same spot or moves.

if problem moves = replace ballast

if problem remains = find the fault in the wiring

X2 swap bulbs around first. The problem you describe was like mine and it was the lamps.

I think I am going to start by replacing the bulbs first. Where do most forums member buy their bulbs?
It looks like I can get to the passengers side bulb easy but the drivers side looks a little more difficult.

If it still happens after the bulb is replaced, then I most likely I have a ballast or electrical problem.

did you try swapping the bad side with the good side one first? may not be a lamp problem...but... HIDextra sells them in our vendor section. check with him. stock color is 4300k - best output.

driver side - you have to remove the overflow coolant reservoir for room. a lil cramped but it can be done.
