HID Acting weird....

My HID will turn on....then slowly fade and turn off when i turn it on. Is this a bulb issue?

Swap left and right bulbs to see if the problem follows the bulb.

yeah....was going to do that but wanted to see if someone knew cut or dry if it was a bulb or ballast/ignitor problem based on the symptoms. It goes on and them slowly fades and goes completely out after 10 mintues

Did it have pink eye on one side before this- thats the first death warning for bulbs

The old bulb swap is the way to know if its more serious

I recently had the pink eye bulb- I replaced the lows with Kaixen 6000k from Josh- Excelerate, he also has 5000k oe is 4300 so these are brighter white with blue that picks out decals on semi trucks and all road signs and lane markings, cant wait for fog to really test them- first good rain this weekend to use them too
ebay hi beam zenons - way better than oe, but no match for the low beams- the highs just add some light in certain areas
I have other cars pull up next to me with the brown dull glow of regular headlights and I laugh

I have heard its possible to use a dremel and make the torx head screws that hold the protector cover on th eback of the bulbs accept a flat blade screwdriver
Wallyworld carries the tools for 3 bucks IIRC

The special screws are to prevent easy theft of very pricey bulbs- think 85 for ebay stockers, 150 per bulb at dealer, 150 for Kaixen per PAIR at excelerate\
Great Brake and Great Lights are things I insist on

Sounds like the ballast problem to me; but swap to confirm; look at the bulb and it may give you some clue there when it has a darker shade in it.

While the ballast is usually the first part to suspect don't count out the igniter which was my problem. I'm think it's a bulb though in your case.

It almost seems as if the bulb is getting power and then slowly cutting itself out or maybe there is no more gas left in the bulb and it has enough to ignite but not maintain. Definitely try swapping the bulbs to find the solution.
