here we go...C230 vs. TL-S
ok, we all know who killed who...cuz simply there's no comparison..but this was a little different.
it was around 10pm last night. And I was rolling towards a stop light. I saw the light on the cross street going yellow, so I just let it roll maybe around 3-5mph. On my left there's the C230 stopped waiting for light to go green. The road leads to an entrance to the freeway, so there's like 100-150m before it merges into 1 lane.
The lights hit green, I passed the car and was slowly accelerating. Then I heard this engine revving noise coming from behind, so I looked to my left, and the C230 has caught up and I saw the guy has a grin on his face.
My natural response was flooring my car, and there we go. By the time we hit the entrance I was already half a car ahead, so he had to slow down and let me in first.![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I wasn't even using SS ( I was on D4 ) and my ac was on.
when we got on the freeway, he wanted to race me, but I wasn't into it, cuz I've already won...so he blew pasted us and went on.
5 minutes later, I saw him again, but this time he was pulled over by a highway patrol.

C230?? LOL, as in Sedan or the new C-Coupe?? C230 Kompressor Sedan is actually pretty fast, and from experience, it's even faster than SLK230!!!
Though still no match for TLS...

P.S. If it's just "C230" and no Kompressor... then.... he shouldn't even bother trying... :P

Drifting
Back in June I had a little run with the a brand new C230, silver. I kicked his A$$ all the way up to 110MPH, no competition. Although, a new C series is coming out if it is not out yet, it is suppose to have 320hp, that would be sick.

Yeap the C32/SLK32 AMG Kompressor are coming very soon (limited edition) with V6 S/C engine to produce 349hp & 333 ft-lb of torque. Both cars do 0-60 mph in flat 5 and they are all automatic with SS. No manual tranny is available and they cost from $50K to $55K but you know the dealers are goin' to mark-up these cars like crazy!

I drove the new C Hatch and Sedan in both engine trims 2.3 and 3.2 at the Mercedes Power Trip 2001 over a month ago along with a 325, is300, and A4 2.8 which were borught along from comparisons. I was impressed with the C320, but the C Hatch was a big disappointment. I was expecting alot more. Handling was OK, power was adequate, but the biggest letdowns were the interior and drivetrain.
The cloth interior of a regular Accord/Camry/Maxima put it to shame. It was more comparable to a Toyota Echo than any other car in its price class. The seats had a very plastic lawnchair-like feel to them which made the car seem extremely cheap. I've seen the commercial where the car was equipped with leather seats; They didnt ahve one there, but its probably worth whatever premium to not get stuck with the standard interior. The engine was very very loud and clattered like you would not believe. I assume it was particular to those car which were getting beaten on as I dont see how Mercedes could sell their cars which an engine that sounded as bad as that one. Power was adequate, I wasnt impressed by it in any way. Optioned up this car wont be 25k for sure.
At the very end of the day I rated them C320, IS300, 325, A4, C230 in that order. Then I got back into my Type-S with my two friends, gave her some throttle and got a big grin on my face as I realized how very happy I was with my choice.

I went the Powertrip -- they didn't have either the C32AMG or the SLK32 AMG.
It doesn't matter, a guy in my neighborhood already took delivery of his black one about a month ago.
It's such a sleeper, until you carefully look at the larger rims, and if you get a chance to see the BIG AMG trim on the rear, you'd just think it was a C320. The front air dams look a little different, otherwise the car is a complete sleeper. I wish it looked a little more aggressive.
As soon as he's done breaking it in, I'll hunt him down on the street and have a go at it. (Not saying I'd even have a chance at a 4.8 second car).
This is definitely a car that'll consistently run against pros in their new M3's .. automatics are pretty hard to screw up when street racing. No need to brake-torque this car, from what I read in Motortrend, it's a SKILL to be able to just manage the tire spin when simply stomping on it at a launch. 0-60's range from 4.8 - 5.2 based on how well you can master this skill. Something like 300 lb-ft of torque is available at only 2200 rpms.
I received the same key chain .. the ring w/ the Mercedes ball in the center -- silver. And I went!

1997-1998 C230s don't have Kompressor and runs like slug... :P
1999+ C230s have kompressor and are fairly fast....
The S/C 4 cylinder engine is rough, IMO.... especially at high-rpm... it just doesn't have the refinements of the V6/V8/V12 from Mercedes...
P.S. 1994-1996 are C220...
