helpp!! Audio issue!!!

So I followed the instructions on the thread for keeping the factory subwoofer with an aftermarket stereo. The sub amp turns on just fine but im not getting any sound through my main speakers. I read somewhere about looping the wires or something?

Can someone tell me step by step to finish this? please!!

i had a shop do it for me but when the only way to get my factory sub working with my aftermarket radio, i had to put in an aftermarket amp instead of using the factory amp.. hope that gives you a little bit of insight

ok, so here's the bottom line... I want to keep my stock speakers running with an aftermarket headunit. I've already tapped into the factory amp by running RCA's to it and tapping the colored wires there for signal and running a remote wire to the Orange wire there to turn the amplifier on. So what else do I need to do in order to get my door speakers running?

thats what im trying to tell you.. i couldnt get it to work without getting an aftermarket amp. i think if you wanna stick with the stock amp, you get either the sub or the door speakers.. im not too sure though but thats what the guy at the shop said after we couldn't get the sub to work in my car

The stock 6 1/2 speakers need to tapping or anything. Just wire up the HU's harness with the extended harness, since you don't want to cut up the factory one. Door speakers will work.

The door speakers will work just fine with a aftermarket headunit. Nothing special is needed for that other than a dash wire kit (like a metra unit to make it plug and play no splicing).

How is the HU hooked up? nothing needs to be looped

ok lets start from the factory point...

i took the factory stereo out. I plugged in my harness with my stereo to the car, and no sound to the door speakers. I can only hear the sub due to REM to Power Antenna on the Metra harness so its triggering the rear amp for the sub, and i have RCAs running into the wires for signal.

Ok then how are the fronts hooked up? Thru the wires with the kit? If its hooked up properly it should work. There is nothing special to it. Check all your wires to make sure you have the HU hooked up to the harness correctly.

yeah i checked, re-checked and checked again. everything is fine with the kit. I hope my headunit isn't bad cuz I was in a car accident with my previous car which my stereo was in.

nope. usually shouldnt be a problem. i think you should check your wiring harness again, you might have wired up something wrong. looping is only if you used the stock HU, and NO you dont have to use an aftermarket amp, but the sound just sucks ass so i used one anyways. . look in the audio and video section and click the first link. look at the wiring diagram and check your work. unless you screwed up somewhere, there should be no problem at all.

the EQ does not have to be connected, so keep that in mind. aftermarket HU's usually have built in amps and preamps so the only problem after isolating all other issues would be your wiring.

haha. if you want an easier way, take a picture of your harness with all your connections and give me the model number of your new head unit and we can verify wiring for you

i had to rewire my stock head unit over this past weekend because since the swap, i have had no music for my car. i had to loop the EQ harness and tap into the speaker lines in order to send a signal to my line out converter. i installed an aftermarket eq (pioneer DEQ-9200) to calibrate sound, and then hooked it up to an aftermarket amp and rewired my doors with fresh 16ga speaker wire. I'm telling you, if you want better sounding music, get an aftermarket amp. a good 4 channel amp with at least 75+watts RMS per channel. about 100 bucks would buy you a decent used amp (rockford, jl) and you'll never turn back to stock powered speakers, ever.
